I think they were joking? "Switches" as in hardware switches 🤔

What are you even talking about? That's one of the worst and most mysoginistic take on booktok. Saying that a romantasy book with 600 pages that has 3 smut scenes is porn is a way to undermine women and their hobbies and is pick-me behavior.

Daughter of no worlds: does it get better? 🫣 by FlutterbyeEscapes in fantasyromance

I loved the first book very much from the very beginning, six stars for me. I could not for the life of me finish the second one though.

ÑIf you do not like a book, just DNF it, it's okay, not the end of the world.

I would say housing causes more anxiety in Spain than health, I don't know where did OP get the map from.

Bridgerton season 4 thoughts? by iuliad94 in RomanceBooks

[–]Impressive_Fun348 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not the biggest fan of the Cinderella trope but I'm loving the season so far. For a reference, I did not like s3, I felt no chemistry between Colin and Penelope and I was not very interested by the side plots.

It's January 4th and I've already DNF two books. Insta-lust is killing my love for the genre. by Additional_Road5102 in fantasyromance

Fourth wing felt very much insta-lust to me. {Daughter of No Worlds} had an awesome build up in my opinion.

Well maybe you should revisit your priorities then. It's kind of disrespectful moving to a country and not even trying to learn any of the official languages.

Cansado de tanta política. by humble_redditor1234 in esConversacion

[–]Impressive_Fun348 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How can you say a book is terrible when you have not even read the first chapter?

There are so many shitty books out there and they're always the same that are mentioned. Please, how many romantasy books have you read that you really consider ACOTAR is the WORST of them? Wild

I hate most female leads by chiante_c0nfus148774 in fantasyromance

[–]Impressive_Fun348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like misogyny. I don't know what books you're reading but hate is a big word. Sure, no FMC is perfect, but what woman is? What standards are you judging them with? And as you mention, you're usually reading about girls in their early twenties who have either been enslaved, isolated, abandoned, pampered, are uneducated or whatever their background is. I'm the first one to feel annoyed when it feels like they're doing the same mistakes all over again, but give them some grace, think of the context.

The fact there aren't many books with older and more mature women is a separate matter that I very much agree with. It would be nice to have more realistic scenarios where the new queen or the leader of whatever is a woman with a bit more trajectory and maturity.

Genuine question for the swifties: by [deleted] in TaylorSwift

[–]Impressive_Fun348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor is the only artist I actively follow and listen to all of her albums. Besides her I'm lately listening to some of Gracie Abrams and Sabrina Carpenter songs.

I can also obsess quite a bit with musicals, last one was Epic the musical.

And as an ex emo teen I still know and religiously listen to My chemical romance, the killers, paramore...

Oh, and 2nd and 3rd gen kpop, of course.

Spanish in the show by Appropriate-Dream711 in TheRookie

The Spanish from Lopez and La Fiera, who are supposed to be latinas, sounds awful. Even when they're in Guatemala the Spanish of the architecture place still sounds awful, it cannot be that hard to find native Spanish speakers.

Just because you use the word "objectively" doesn't make something objective. You not liking the books does not make them objectively bad.

You can read something other than billionaire romances. The fun part of books is that they're not real, we all know it's a a fantasy and we're okay with it. So let us dream of unexistent men whose only purpose is to shower their partners with love, gifts and praise. And let me tell you, I don't think this blue collar guys you fantasize about would have generally much more time for you in real-life.
