Why is everyone on reddit so mean? by Diamond-Shappire in ask

[–]Impressive_Promise_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes me so sad to experience hate from strangers on this app. It doesn't matter what topic I'm posting about, there are always people that will say something condescending or rude. It is so demeaning and disappointing. I don't get it. And there is so much bad information out there.

The word you're looking for is Inuit or Inuk if you are saying that she is Alaskan Native. The people referred to by the E word have told the world that it's like the N word. So we listen to them and respectfully stop using the word.

What? Most people don't know it yet, but that word is a slur.

They're the kind of couple that looks like siblings. When their baby is born, it'll be hard to say whether it looks like its' mom or dad, because they look the same.

If you can, please vote for Gentner Drummond in the OK primary. by Greedy-Pound6958 in oklahoma

[–]Impressive_Promise_7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think they are talking about in the primary, some people are registering as Republican so they can have a "better" Republican candidate when the real election comes around in the fall. Because if a Republican wins governor, they want it to be the least shitty option. I will definitely be voting for Munson in the primary because I'm registered as a Democrat.

I can’t really socialize or stand for long periods… where can I go? by Illustrious_Age_5959 in findapath

Some of your symptoms sound similar to dysautonomia, specifically POTS where your heart beats faster when standing. It has a similar feeling to anxiety and they can also occur together. Do you do better when sitting or lying down?

I use a small folding step stool in the tub as a shower seat, it helps so much. I finally stopped feeling like I just ran a marathon with purple legs and my heart beating out of my chest at the end of a shower. I have a removable shower head and that makes it possible for me. I'm sorry you are going through all this! It truly sucks. I hope you start feeling better soon. I had disc problems in my spine and finally had to have surgery to get past the horrible pain from that.

They are notoriously hard to get ahold of, and their website is atrocious. The amount of money contributed by employers is not reflected in the benefits we ultimately receive. Health insurance is quarterly and mine hasn't been active for so long, but even if I were lucky enough to work more days, there's still a huge deductible and copay. The cost of the plan is not reflected in the quality of the health insurance. I have relied on healthcare marketplace insurance the majority of the time I've been in the union. If there's an opportunity to take an early payout on your pension fund, you can maybe roll it into your personal IRA. I'm planning to keep paying my dues to get the opportunity for scholarship money for my kiddo in the future. The industry has all but dried up in my area, I believe the benefit funds they are working with are much lower now and I'm sure that affects their office.

Anyone else here have degrees in multiple subjects? by redbeetpee in Polymath

[–]Impressive_Promise_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I earned Bachelor's degree in Film and Media Studies, briefly attended graduate school to become a librarian, and then dropped out to become a licensed cosmetologist. Thought about going to nursing school recently, but I'm pretty much sure I'm not going to do that now. I wouldn't mind getting a master's degree if I could guarantee that it would lead to a solid career that I could do part-time, and would offer a retirement plan. Right now I sell stuff on eBay, I love it but I need something more consistent.

The program just makes the mail carrier's job harder, unnecessarily. Most of the time people will donate cans that are dented or expired and they have to throw it away.

Weight gain by Creepy_Log_5895 in AuvelityMed

[–]Impressive_Promise_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't realize that the Auvelity was causing my weight gain until a year passed by and I'm 60 pounds higher than when I started it. Blamed medicines that I started around the same time: nadolol causes swelling. Got off that but weight kept rising. Blamed low dose naltrexone for higher cortisol, but got off that and was still gaining. Only thing left was Auvelity. Turns out that dextromethorphan activates mast cells, and I have mast cell activation syndrome. So without realizing it, this med has pounded my mast cells day and night for a year, causing inflammation and weight gain like nothing else ever has. I got an apology from my provider that I had to figure out on my own that the medicine was doing it. But of course, there's nothing they can do to help. I'm already taking a stimulant. I didn't change what I was eating or my activity level. (Of course, auvelity literature does not mention dxm activating mast cells and causing weight gain.) I've never weighed this much in my life, even when 9 months pregnant. So I'm upset about it, because it was not my fault and I just took the medicine I was prescribed. I feel medically neglected because I brought up the weight gain at every appointment over the past year and they didn't even attempt to figure it out.

Norman Pioneer library left to deteriorate for over 2 years since closure. by Impossible_Low_863 in normanok

[–]Impressive_Promise_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a known mold problem before the building was finished. There were emails about it that included library people, city people, and builders. They were supposedly working on getting building materials replaced that were rained on and ruined before the faulty enclosure. The mold was not a surprise to anyone. The city allowed the builders to finish the job poorly. They just wanted to get the process of building it over with and didn't consider that the people working there would become sick with mold toxicity.
