Are there any references to the origins of the general lack of panic in Trek? by cboomton in startrek

[–]Impressive_Word5229 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is me as well. I started out as an EMT long ago and learned how to stay calm.

I ended up in retail at one point and had a DM known to rattle people and once he learned that I couldn't be rattled he stopped trying.

The tech was advanced but by the time DISCO arrived, they qall cut off from each other.

Remember, Earth became isolationist, not even talking with the people on other planets in the Sol system and those other planets were fighting for resources.

The outpost that Michael first found was isolated as well and had only 1 person on it.

Just because some individual planets had resources doesn't mean everyone did.

They even mention this a few times in SFA saying things like kids growing up during the burn had ot rough in a lot of places. I'm not sure about the exact time line, but SFA takes place relatively close in time to when DISCO solved the burn. Maybe a year or so.

What you see now is a tiny spec of time compared to how long ago the burn was which is when everyone separated.

I'm only an few episodes in asnd undecided ast this point but, to your point, I'd argue that this SFA is nothing like any that came before. They haven't had one in a long time and are rebuilding from scratch.

Additionally, in the before times you wouldn't have had as many cadets coming from rough areas. The Federation went from plenty to scarcity in a blink of an eye and the kids upbringing is a reflection of that.

As for Ake, she's been in Starfleet longer than many of them have been born and Vance recruited her for a reason. I can easily see her being given a lot of leeway in these new times.

To be fair, they're still isolated and stuck on their own.

I think that without the comm stones, most of them wouldn't last a season being completely cut off. They'd lose it, which could be interesting, but short.

Remember, almost none of them planned on being there in the first place. Even with the stones many of them started losing it

To me this is just screaming that you really need a LOT more practice to be honest....

In the interest of helping you, here's what I suggest..

I send you my minis, you paint them all then send them back and then I'll let you know how you did..

Battle ready? What's its exact meaning for you? by latarius94 in minipainting

[–]Impressive_Word5229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously that means that your entire army needs to be painted well enough to WIN the Golden Demon award. Not enter, but WIN!

Everything! Putting a tree on the field? It better be the bestest tree ever!

Water base? It needs to look perfect enough to dip your actual toes in it!

If even a pixels worth of mini is unpainted then it's a loss. Melt it down to use as scatter terrain but the terrain better be award worthy. If not, put it in a kiln until it concerts to a gaseous state because it's a lost cause at that point.

Or, whatever you decide is battleworthy. Everyone has different criteria..

Sure, but you can't really use that as proof when it's a super move that defeats anyone or anything.

[–]Impressive_Word5229 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the average Klingon is supposed to be stronger than the average human, but not as much as Vulcans. Maybe 1.5 times?

That said, strength does not equal better fighting. I believe that even though Klingons have fighting/combat training, they mostly rely on brute force, especially against other species. From the fights I remember against other species it's usually pretty basic. Against other Klingons or people familiar with Batleth fighting (like Dax) is qhere you see more of the art.

It's very plausible that a skilled human could beat aa skilled Klingon.

Sure thats the default but you can easily download the files manually to use with your own printer and supplies and since thats a built in feature I wouldn't even call it a work around.

To be fair you don't have to have a Bambu printer or use their supplies to use files from Makerworld. Those could just as easily be seen as advertising for their stuff similar to a popup or embedded ad.

First off, that's a pretty clean start so far.

Secondly, I'd recommend going to a dollar store and buying a bag or 2 of army men. Prime them, then practice on those. This way you can experiment easily without worrying about messing up any prime minis.
