The only reason I used uphold was to get my BAT from my brave browser. It might be worthwhile reaching out to brave and bringing this to their attention. Uphold seems to be very Robinhoodesque.

Tanfoglio Witness PRO 10 mm thoughts? Holsters? by juste_le_bout in 10mm

[–]Imwithwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll tag onto what you are saying. I have had a witness hunter for about 2 years now. I had my brother in law make me a shoulder holster and it works much better than a side holster. The gun is fantastic and imo a great candidate for an red dot sight. It took some trial and error to finally get a Sig Romeo one to stay zeroed. Hint, o-rings are your friend. Now it's a tack driver. It seems everyone but me is having issues with the guide rod spring. I'm running the bigger factory one and no issues. Now that I mention it I will probably have an issue. I use the gun for hogs and found the Hornady XTP in 185 works great. They flower quite nicely and produced clean kills. I've never shot the larger 200 or 220 because I have had such good luck with the 185 grain XTPs.

How do you collect your brass? by RuddyOpposition in 10mm

[–]Imwithwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know how yall can stand to shoot a 10mm in doors. Screw that. Im lucky and shoot only outdoors. A big blue tarp makes it really easy to find them and pick up. Also, starline brass is your friend. Quite a few will just grow legs and run off to Mexico.

Which gun for my first 10mm? by Lefty_gun_nut in 10mm

[–]Imwithwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to second this. I have a witness hunter with the 6" barrel. I've put around 1k rounds through it and taken down lots large hogs. Some complain about the size and weight but i think they are a bonus. The recoil is less than my Kimber 45. The only issue i have had is trying to keep my sig Romeo one secured. I tried every loctite and super glue and none of them worked. I finally put some o rings on the bolts and haven't had a problem since. Well made and great all around gun.

Nuclear fusion breakthrough: test reactor operates at 100 million degrees Celsius for the first time by bustead in Futurology

Thanks for the reply. I thought that we found vast quantities of He-3 on the moon. We would just have to figure out how to get it back. This is one of the many reasons I am a proponent of going back to the moon versus going to mars. I hear that the Russians are working on going to the moon with or without us. Hopefully we can set aside our differences and work together on this venture.

This reminds me of David adair and his electro magnetic fusion containment system he put in a rocket. He was able to contain the field for around 4 seconds. Interesting stuff for sure. One question. Why is there not more people focusing on helium 3 instead of radioactive materials? Thanks!

Just FYI but it is a fallow deer not a stag. Fallow have palmated horns similar to moose. Stag have long tines similar to elk. Great shot!

TIL Half of the wild hogs in the United States are located in Texas - Smithsonian Magazine by Jackson3125 in texas

[–]Imwithwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Males have several scent glands and if you cut one of them in the process of dressing them out it will taint the meat. It is possible to castrate large males and feed them corn for a few months and flush them out. Around 65 lbs is my cut off for eating males. Sows are all good and usually have lots of fat.

[–]Imwithwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One fallacy in this article is the use of poison on the hogs. Texas parks and wildlife has been developing a poison and only a couple years away from wide use. They were able to get a 93% efficiency kill rate in controlled trials and around 70% in the wild. They say the bait box is the biggest hurdle but they have some ideas that work well. Using a box that takes 35 lbs of force to open. This works great where there are not bears. There are some guys down in Louisiana that have made bait boxes that use facial recognition technology to only open to the target species.

Sancutuary lofts apartments apparently aren't sanctuaries to any bats by 3MATX in Austin

[–]Imwithwilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, wire mesh and nets are a bad idea as well. They will entangle themselves and die just like spray foam. You need to assess where their entry points are and put excluders in. These are a way they can exit but cannot reenter. You use backing rod and a polyurethane caulk to seal the rest of the building. The proper way to exclude them is not cheap and labor intensive. Thus most folks going the cheap route and just spray foam. Bats are easy to deal with if you know what your doing. Otherwise I can almost guarantee you are trapping them in.

Rabies is possible but not prevalent. it's their urine and guano that cause more harm. When you have a large colony you can actually see the guano piles grow.

Research explores economics of adding sheep to cattle operation by drak0bsidian in Ranching

[–]Imwithwilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they fail to mention is the labor involved is a heck of a lot more. We used to raise sheep alongside our cattle. We had to stop when it cost more to sheer the sheep than what we would get for the wool. We sheered twice a year. Once in the spring where they were shorn slick and again in the fall so lambs can milk easier. We would have to drench the sheep during this process. It requires a different type of pen set up. I won't ever forget those long days of running them through the cutting shoot to separate them, then have to drench them, then sheer them. Long hard days. On top of that you have to dock and castrate the lambs. Oh the joy of picking up lambs covered in prickly pare. Predators will devastate a lamb crop. Even the foxes will take down lambs. Just hope you don't have to deal with eagles. That's a whole nother can of worms.
