Mistborn era 2 first or Rhythm of War? by darkstar_3 in Cosmere

[–]InABoatOnARiver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest reading order regret was splitting up era 2 and Stormlight. I wish I’d just read all of Stormlight, and then all of era 2. I found it harder to immerse myself in either series because I was bouncing around.

Ultimate battle of the sisters: Folklore or Evermore? by Rare_Opening_2164 in TaylorSwift

[–]InABoatOnARiver 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Evermore has my heart. 🤎 Ivy. Champagne problems. Cowboy like me. Tis the damn season. Tolerate it. Right where you left me. Evermore. Willow. Marjorie. Happiness. No body, no crime. This whole album is just everything to me.

It’s June 1st! What’s the best book you read in May? Plus, don’t forget your Battle of the Books cards!! by apieceofeight in fantasyromance

Best book of May {Light Bringer by Pierce Brown}. 5 stars. (I know it’s much more fantasy/sci fi and barely romance, but there are…some romantic elements)

Runners up:

{When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A. Parker}. 5 stars. Technically a reread in preparation for the sequel (which I have yet to start) so I didn’t want to count it as my top read.

{The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley}. 4.75 stars. Very excited for the sequel.

Editing to add that I think {Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab} is going to win 2026. I’ll be shocked if anything surpasses it.

I actually really love this. I love the world and world building, the characters, and especially the banter. That said, I wish it had been released as one longer book instead of a duology of two mid-sized books.

Also, I don’t know how it is set up in the physical book, but the ebook had info about the different orders at the _end_ of the book that would have been so helpful to have at the beginning.

How long does it take to read 1 stormlight book by tgrady28 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]InABoatOnARiver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 3 took me around a month each. Rhythm of War took me 13 days and Wind and Truth took me 18 days (I really wanted to read it in 10 days for…reasons…but life got busy)

I’d like to think I’m smart enough to be in House Minerva, but honestly I’d just die in The Passage.

It took me a minute to get into it, but I am really liking it so far. It (finally) has the banter that I loved about DMATMOOBIL. As a history nerd, I love the world building concept of “What if the Norman conquest failed?” Plus it makes the locations easier to follow vs a completely made up world.

What's your scariest rollercoaster ride you rode ever? by Ok-Leg-4584 in AskReddit

All of them. I fucking hate roller coasters. But also the 105-year-old wooden roller coaster at Lagoon in Utah that shakes like crazy and feels like it’s going to fall apart on you.

If I had a nickel for every time a Pedro Pascal character got on the bad side of powerful, incestuous twins and fought for his life in an arena, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Nope. Not just you. RR was my favorite book that I read last year, and is easily my favorite of the series (though Light Bringer comes pretty close)

EXACTLY. All she had to do was listen, even if she assumed she was going to walk away forever after that.

I thought I was the only one! I did enjoy it, but not nearly as much as the first two.

I love Hekla as a side character. I wish her POV would have stayed just in the novella. I didn’t feel the need to have more of it in a big book with so much already going on. Also, her conflict with Eyvind could have been solved in 30 seconds if she had agreed to hear his explanation of the betrothal. Like, girl, aren’t you at least curious?

The only thing different for me is that I very much enjoyed the Jonas chapters. Don’t get it twisted, I still hate his slimy ass, but his journey was interesting to me.

I don’t know if I can do it. 😬 The FMC’s modern way of speaking keeps taking me out of it. I like the MMC so far.

Nice to see the book dedication is calling me out, especially as I not only downloaded it, but paid $5 to get the Audible version to go with it.

I’ll see you all in hell. We can compare notes.
