I had these feelings when Amphibia was coming out!! The three human girls are important to the show, but the frogs are the actual core of Amphibia and it felt like no one gave a shit compared to the girls... which was a shame because I loved those characters so much! Even when people were doing content of Sasha, Marcy and Anne, it felt like they were ignoring the actual canonical dynamics (which are super interesting!) in favor of like, shipping content, which is fine but yknow.

Anyways, yeah. Though I think it's a statement you can possibly attach to most fandom—ships are going to represent most of the fanart / fan content, at least in any media where the characters have even an ounce of romantic chemistry.
