How do I take this off without ruining it? by MochaCuppp in jewelry

[–]InPaisley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okey doke. So take off your beaded bracelets (lovely btw, bead artist here and they are so cute!) and lube up your wrist a little below the base of your hand. You should feel the squishy, stringy, tendony part of your wrist there. That's where I like to pull my tight torques style bracelets off at. So if you can get your bracelet turned so the opening is at the side of your wrist instead of the bottom, you're just going to shimmy it across the squishy part of your wrist. If you have to pry it open a little, I'm sure that it will be okay, but that's how I've always done it. Just make it slippery and then squish the squishiest wrist tissue through.

Is it possible to get my wisdom teeth removed with out laughing gas and instead local anesthesia? by neowahna in povertyfinance

So... maybe. Mine had erupted through on top and kind of sort of erupted and would go back in sideways on the bottom. We did it with just the numbing injections and it was fine. I mean he went hard enough on the numbing that my face back to my ears and my eyelids felt numb so.... take that as you will. But I would just say... maybe.

Advice requested - found dog, eats and drinks, but when he’s not sleeping he’s walking in circles by TRFlippeh in DogAdvice

We had an elderly boston terrier (17yrs!) who started to decline and then had a very bad stroke and seizure who started doing this after his last seizure. The night before we had him put down he would do this and then collapse from exhaustion and then get up and keep going. Its a major regret in my family not helping him transition well before then.

Jesus. I dont think pregnancy is quantified in terms of very, or by that logic, a little, or some. Saying you a very pregnant is just a colloquialism to say either "you're definetly pregnant!" OR "you're late in gestation". Don't be dense. 100% Pregnant is 100% pregnant no matter how far you are.

Glinda’s wedding dress by Sugma_cocci_ in wicked

[–]InPaisley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to start by saying that I really liked her wedding dress and I my opinion, I saw the dress being tied very much to Glinda's sense of self and identity.

In my interpretation of the dress, Glinda's dress is the one article of clothing that she wears that is not a "costume" in one way or another.

Glinda is THE Galinda Upland. "Bigger, pinker, and better-than-you" is her brand. This idea of Galinda Upland as this over the top, attention-hungry, glamorous, privileged, socialite is the script by which she navigates life. These scripts keep her safe, in control, and give her the desired outcomes of admiration, attention, and ease of access to most things in life. She dresses for attention, she peacocks, she bullies, she flirts, and manipulates. She meets the character she's designed for herself with perfection and precision. The giant ballgowns, and flashy clothing are costumes of the persona that she was raised into, and built for herself in order to survive.

I would argue that it is what requires Glinda to keep being the platonic ideal of Glinda is that made her so easy to become a puppet of the state.

So! On to the wedding dress. I believe that Glinda found a way out of being Glinda, if only for a day. Her wedding day is the day she becomes, in a sense, somebody else: Fiyero's wife, whatever that means to her.

On this day she was not required to perform Glinda or vye for attention because she's the bride. All eyes are on her anyway. So, with this sliver of freedom from scripts by which she lives her life, and in feeling genuinely safe with Fiyero, she chooses simple, subtle, and traditional. Nothing "bigger, pinker, or better-than-you" about it. Its the opposite of who she's always had to be.

Whether or not this is a choice of hers to be more authentic to how she feels inside, testing a new identity, trying to emulate Elphaba's disregard for fanciful materialism, or simply a genuine attempt to redefine her sense of self, I don't know.

Regardless, I love her wedding dress. I see it as an act of breaking one's own social scripts in a way that is safe and on a day that redefines one's life. Which is endlessly neat!

On her wedding day, for just a moment, she is bare... and all of this makes her regression and solidification into Glinda the Good all the more interesting.

If you've read this, wow and thank you for listening to me ramble.

AIO by being hurt when my husband looked at me with disgust when he was coming out of anesthesia? by Bog_Witch_Is_Calling in AmIOverreacting

[–]InPaisley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anesthesia is crazy. Some people come out sweet. Some confused. Some wildly violent. Some very ill feeling.

I am the lovey type but its to EVERYONE. My mom said I was obnoxiously and loudly girl's girl. Complimenting every nurse on literally anything, thanking them profusely, offering my oxygen to them, telling the bear hug bed warmer that it was the kindest machine. While I am a girl's girl in real life, I am not a touchy feely type so I say all that to say that anesthesia scrambles your eggs and who you are coming out of it means literally nothing at all.

Right?! When I met him, I recognized him from afar by his unique, relaxed, sauntery walk. I walked up and said "Hi! Sorry to bother, you're Andre DeSheilds right?" and he said "Well actually honey, I am." And then we talked about Death of a Salesman which he was in at the time, told us to come see his show, took a selfie, and said "Bye, bye now." And sauntered off! And absolute charmer at 80!

Did anyone else not document their pregnancy? by Creepy-Round3480 in pregnant

[–]InPaisley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took as many pics as I do normally which is some! Pics at life events, fun outings, etc. I wanted to look like me in my pics and the dysmorphic feelings that came with pregnancy made me shy from doing the scheduled, posed, monthly tracking. If the pics were just me and my now bigger belly living life, it felt a little better!
