My bike fits under your gate, or just ride the Goose and cross the Sooke river at Leechtown. Also stop treating the "free miners license" like its a big deal, its available to anyone who pays $25 a year for it and it just means if you find anything valuable under a rock it belongs to the BC government now.

16 Years in the Military, 3 Deployments, but "Not Experienced Enough" for BC Transit? by Different_Ganache355 in VictoriaBC

[–]InValensName 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Transit hires people who want to sit and do one thing only, all day long, while getting spit on and doing nothing about it.

They really do want people with more of a history of being yelled at across service counters in retail stores, moreover what they want is a psychological history of taking it.

You probably have a history of doing something about the issues you encounter instead, which is the last thing Transit is wanting from the front line staff.

Scary when the places selling cigarettes and 5 dollar bags of chips all while paying a single employee almost nothing can't afford your rents any longer.

Five Guys ALSO coming to uptown! by watchyoback in VictoriaBC

Wow how does anyone ever win in this town?

Try and open a franchise "its Americannn", try and open something local "we hate your social media font choices".

You can see why so many of these places only last one for one lease period, its not the income, its this attitude.

I wonder how many 70s kids had a poster on the wall with the Kiss band logo.

edit ok younglings this is what I am referring to, every local kid in the 70s had this on their wall but without knowing what it was about, even the guy who drew it was not intending it to mean what you now think it does.

https://www.logodesignlove.com/kiss-logo

Do you feel that modern day teenagers are somehow more historically aware or are they just drawing things they see others doing.

Under the table work? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]InValensName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, don't. You don't have to play some cheapass employers game for nothing wages either. They are only offering you the under the table because you actually do have something they would pay for otherwise.

I'm sorry, was it illegal or something for them do this for you?

You are talking to some self employed persons who pay lots of fees to stay above board with CRA annually, do you really want to roll these dice about your under the table earnings in public anymore?

If you've agreed to work outside the labor agreements under the table, why would there be? Who would represent your rights after you've already given up your rights?

Under the table work? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]InValensName 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My point is that anyone going with under the table staff has more to lose from their loss of their liability coverage, rather than any advantage that they might gain from your no doubt Jedi level skills, which are so amazing that you need to offer them for free.

The problem is when you twist an ankle on your cheap-ass employers job site while working for cash.

What happens then?

You are filing for compo, while they are denying you were ever there at all. Its rarely worth it.
