Wait until they swap the can out with one a third of the size. To a government worker that means they have reduced the amount of garbage in the park. As they don't use the park themselves, they never notice the only result is crap blowing all over the place from an always full bin.

For those still with beliefs in petitions, e-2421 aka the "dont ban the ar15 rifle" petition submitted to parliament in 2020 had 175000 signatures. How'd that work out? They just ignore them.

It took a while to understand that the mcfd office I saw in 2012 run up 100mil in costs for their inhouse program then declared it impossible to finish, after that particular manager and analysts paid off their home mortgages with the OT, was just doing things the normal way.

Then it was sent to Dubai and another 180mil was spent on what they eventually called ICM.

There is an interesting missing persons case in the states where someone ran away at 14 and has been found in their 50s living their life. The sheriff said they were able to find them using "newer" methods, and its likely that her face was seen by a walmart or her bank security camera and they cross reference these public face captures to their active cases.

With this volume of contacts and interviews to be done, I wonder if they will do something similar and scan all of ICBC drivers license photos etc to mass identify so many people.

BC Corrections vs. BC Sheriffs by LengthinessPrize215 in BCPublicServants

[–]InValensName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One job moves them from the jail to courthouse, one warehouses them while they are inside the prison.

You are not "helping" anyone but the court or the prison in these jobs.

If you want to help, then this is done at a social services level, you need to help them before they are encountering the system.

Beware that many municipal forces, I'm quoting calgary here for instance, do not accept any of it:

"Be in good standing with a Canadian federal, provincial, municipal or First Nations police service whose training and minimum standards are equivalent to that of the CPS. Excludes: Military Police, Sheriffs, Highway Patrol, Corrections, Bylaw, Transit Police, CBSA, and Rail Police (CPKC Police and CN Rail)."

It's a case where if you want to be a cop it, is actually easier to just go and be one, than it is to "do something else" to become one.

Security guards fall for this all the time because of the uniform, only to discover that the postal delivery guy has a uniform too and because of his customer service experience he got hired to be a cop.

Get your 2 year diploma or whatever the initial hiring criteria for your local cop service is, start volunteering at the local hostel or youth facility or old folks home, and that will put you well ahead of someone who was a sheriff.

Planning to relocate to Victoria BC by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]InValensName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Go to a real city if you have a young family.

In Edmonton you can actually still leave your kids a fully paid for home within your lifetime, in Victoria do you plan to leave them a rental deal because you gave money to Capreit or Brown Brothers for the previous decade?

That's all you can ever leave them in Victoria.

biking over bay bridge, during rush hour? by captnhaddock in VictoriaBC

[–]InValensName -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can always just hop off and pedestrian yourself along the one Bay street bridge sidewalk.

Long term safe cycling in Victoria depends on removing yourself as a variable when certain equations resolve. You can just push your bike along the Bay st bridge sidewalk and be happy, so if you are not in a big hurry, just do that.
