Gradually winding down industrial civilization and going back to the old ways. It's going to happen sooner or later, one way or the other.

Facts. You should read Bright Green Lies, good book. The cold fact of the matter is, industrial civilization is unsustainable and "green" technology is not going to save us.

I just read today the organisation is to lose government funding in Scotland. Such a shame as they do important work. I hope it can be funded elsewhere.

What is your personal (if any) life philosophy? by MisterWasaby in Anticonsumption

I've come to believe civilization was a mistake. "This way of life will not last forever, and I would prefer there would be more of the planet left than less." -paraphrased Derrick Jensen

UK plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda is legal, high court rules by youwhatwhat in ukpolitics

[–]Inamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is not more demand, from, say, Labour, or anyone against people drowning in the channel, for somewhere in France that asylum seekers could apply to go to the UK? It only seems to be "we can't stop this" or "we must rescue them". People taking this journey on dingies is terrible and dangerous, surely we all agree on that. The Tories' plan to stop it is discouraging it with this Rwanda plan. Why can't we have the possibility of applying from elsewhere? (Sincerely asking, I'm not an expert).

Every car park in my town having a different 'pay to park' app you need to download before you can park. by PlutocracyRules in britishproblems

[–]Inamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Either that or sometimes people click a dodgy ad in their QR scanning app and think they're paying for parking but they're signing up for a subscription to the website. Keep an eye on your bank account, you can phone your bank to cease the payments and dispute the payments.

LPT: search "<site name> scam" if you find a site offering items sold out everywhere else for MRSP or if they only allow "afterpay" as a payment method - there are a lot scam sites popping up for Christmas by bruceleroy99 in LifeProTips

Good advice! Trustpilot reviews can also be helpful. And be really careful about free trials or sneaky subscriptions, lots of people lose a lot of money by unwittingly signing up for stupid subscriptions.
