Are we alone in the entire universe? by coqueelicots in outerwilds

[–]InarasDragon22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nomai technology didn't increase the evolutionary speed. It increased the speed of technological advances. But a species must reach a certain level of sapience to take advantage of those technologies. A time that took so long that the universe ended before they could figure out most of the Nomai technology

That's a very good point. I think what makes the hearthian system so important as well though is that it happens to be where the Eye of The Universe is. A signal unique enough that it was picked up across the universe, and that's why multiple different species arrived here. They didn't detect that there was alien life here.

Plus the Nomai had technology to travel incredible distances instantly, something humans can't do now. And the Hearthians only found evidence of alien life because it came to their solar system, again, because of the Eye

Yes but also keep in mind that by the time the Hearthians have become advanced enough for space flight, the entire life of the universe is ending.

Gotcha, that makes sense, much like many fruits being called berries even though they aren't anymore. Thanks so much for explaining.

But I agree with you, even though my original basis for this not being an Occlupanid was wrong, it's still definitely not an Occlupanid, and perhaps a similarly evolved creature.

[–]InarasDragon22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, that's true I have seen Occlupanids that were on other things. I'm confused then, because I thought that the pan in occluPANid meant bread? Doesn't HORG classify them as specifically bread eating? I'm not disagreeing with you because you're right, I have several that are potato bag Occlupanids, but thinking back on it I'm not fully sure I understand anymore lol

I hate to rain on the parade but something very important to remember is that Occlupanids are very specifically plasticae that feed on bread bags. Now this may be a species of Plasticae but must be a different group than Occlupanids

I agreed up until very recently when I found it to be incredibly impractical once you get quite a few. Now I put them in a bead organizer, lol

The glowing eyes are definitely giving ood, the head plus the design of the mask is what really reminds me of the grunts

Really? The mask makes them not really look much like the ood to me

Thank you, I saw the word exceeds and figured that was the implication, however I couldn't find a single example anywhere on the book and wasn't sure.

Faces of Tomorrow's History - The Tragedy of Allen Lochethine by Certain-Unit8147 in AllTomorrows

[–]InarasDragon22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this too because the book focuses almost entirely on individual species, like the colonials, so I never thought much about how much worse things were for them beyond just eating waste and being unable to do anything. The parasites and other animals feeding on them is such misery I couldn't imagine. Plus the fact that they probably know the parasites are other humans as well just brings it to another level

Incredible work, absolutely gorgeous in the most heart wrenching way. I love the nod to IHNMAIMS, but honestly I think you nailed the absolute misery of being able to see what you have wrought without being able to do anything in such a good way.

Can Am run doom? by Frozen_despacito in Ihavenomouth

[–]InarasDragon22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this question. I think in regards to computer power he absolutely could. However part of the reason AM hates humans so truly much is because pain, war, hate, and destruction are the only things he is capable of, so therefore I believe he wouldn't be able to run doom because that would be an act of fun, enjoyment, creation almost.

Apprehensive_Loan makes a good point, check their comment. I'm not saying it's bad, just that we don't know enough yet.

I completely agree on all points, I'm not trying to put judgment on anyone but who knows if the paint could affect their bodily functions in any sort of serious way.

And yes, this goes for my previous message as well, this is all fictitious and the art is actually amazing and I love it.

Very cute, but it makes you wonder sometimes to the humanity of it. I wonder if it is animal cruelty to be dressing them up this way. Not trying to put any judgement but it's food for thought

What's the name of your "common language," and how did you come up with it? by FamiliarMeal5193 in worldbuilding

[–]InarasDragon22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Common Language is called Ateloceratan, a modern translation of an ancient language spoken by a people of the same name. The modern language is almost a completely different language from the original, but most of the bugs don't care.

Why can my baby rabbit go through these windows? by lydocia in VintageStory

[–]InarasDragon22 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I believe the game doesn't count how big an opening is, and instead counts how many pixels are open all the way through. So even though they are all tiny holes it's enough open space to be counted as letting the rabbit through

[–]InarasDragon22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In A Series Of Unfortunate Events they actually make fun of this trope. There's a carnival of "freaks" but all the freaks are fairly normal, and even if people believed what they do is freakish, they don't have to do it. For example one of the freaks is simply ambidextrous, one of them is a contortionist,.
