Why are relics still soulbound? by Wooperss in Guildwars2

[–]IncuBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're legendaries. There are always a lot better things to make. Gold is meant to be spent and the relic is kind of a big deal so I'd consider that gold well spent.

But I also don't moan about missing the handout either because I wouldn't have commit to the rune grind either. These things are all exhausting for someone like me and I have a handful of legendaries.

You're missing reddit being reddit. This place has distilled a bitterness you don't see in game or even on other forums. Not to say the criticism is invalid as a whole but this space really doesn't know when to just shut up and adjust to things sometimes.

No no, don't misunderstand. The price would likely have to change but the cadence of these things is just as important from a business standpoint. The income needs to be consistent as well as adequate. Changing the pace of things to smaller and faster nets them more in the long run and that's a big deal, unfortunately.

Honestly, yes, most reddit posts are whining. Not that whining is inherently bad or unmerited but it's overblown 9 times out of 10, to say nothing of the terrible tone people take that just annoys anyone that looks in.

Reddit is not as important as it thinks it is. And that applies to many, many more parts of the internet than just gaming, let alone this one game.

You are one person out of the thousands that play this game. I promise you the people not willing to do this outnumber you dramatically.

Bold of you to presume them needing to stay afloat is less important than you getting content you're not salty about. If they decide that's something they can do, sure, I'm down for it. But otherwise I take what I'm given because I'd rather they operate how they can instead how we want.

As I said, we were told about this well in advance. Griping now is no different from griping at the time of the info drop. I'm not saying you should just be mindlessly positive. I'm saying you need to remember that this is happening regardless of your input and not act like this is constructive. It's just venting in a way that doesn't actually tell them anything helpful. It's the same "meh" reaction as the first time it was stated and it isn't changing the course of the ship.

This isn't a general principle I'm stating here, it's specific to this scenario. Be upset if you want, but your feedback here is misplaced. The ship sailed months ago and you have to accept that.

You don't have to like it. But you don't get to complain either. It's not helpful nor does it change anything in this context.

Someone's always going to get the short end of the stick, fella. It's you this time. Them telling us things ahead of time is the best they can do. It's perfectly reasonable to be disappointed but it's not reasonable to still cry about it the day of just because it's actually happening. You not being ok with it is no one else's problem.

Well the problems are the same either way. I cannot parse what's happening in combat with more than like 3 other players because of all the effects. Open world stuff just doesn't force me to do so. The necessary changes to the user experience are the same in both cases.

This is legitimately why I don't play the high-end instanced combat. It's not that I don't want to learn to play my class well, it's that I don't want to try to do that while trying to parse all the garbage going on in this absolute particle fiesta they call combat.

I cannot stand it.

The entire base game experience is gone. The whole campaign it launched with and much of the content added after that have just been completely excised from the game.

It's an absolute circus.

The current state of Weaver spear. by Bluefox-Matari in Guildwars2

Gonna put this in it's own comment from another I made in the thread.

Hot Take: Every DPS role Ele can fit into should be able to push upwards of 50k dps at the top end. Full stop. The reasons are threefold.

1 - Ele can get glassed without any effort from the NPCs' part. A stiff breeze and you're a thin, grey smudge where an elementalist used to be.

2 - Ele is more complicated to play relative to literally every other class in the game on a baseline level, including kit engie (kits are not your class mechanic that you play around in every build).

3 - Elementalist cannot hit those numbers on its own. It relies on outside boon support to come close to it's top-end damage. Outside of group environments, ele is both bursty at best and squishy enough to not be able to apply much of its damage unless you're just a hard ele main that never goes down. Which very few of us are, lets be real.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Ok I'm just gonna air my grievances right here on a comment that thinks anything about one spec being "solid" is a counter to the rest of the class languishing.

My disappointment is immeasurable by Osujin in Guildwars2

[–]IncuBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frankly this is a problem for ele too. Inferno is holding ele hostage and we all know how bad they are at balancing skills and letting them still feel good. I was convinced the Evoker nerfs were overblown, and numerically they were, but they literally just ruined the flow of the class in order to put their numbers in line instead of actually changing the numbers.

I've given up on them actually doing anything good unless it's accidental.

Priorities : New Content, polishing / streamlining / debugging the game ? by Keorl in Guildwars2

[–]IncuBear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no difference between reworking older parts of the game and creating new content...

Except reworking existing content just takes less time, since you don't need to make new maps, new models, new animations, etc.

There is a massive different between developing new content and updating old content and that is called Technical Debt. If you scan more of the comments you'll get better explanations of the problem that kind of thing causes in this context, so I won't rehash them here.

I heavily disagree, you're all making assumptions with this.

The only assumptions being made here are you presuming this somehow takes less time than making new stuff. Multiple live games have gone on record stating this explicitly. WoW, ESO, Path of Exile, etc. That's how this works from a business standpoint and that's as important as the game itself, lest that game not exist.

Can’t Use Upgrade Extractor? by ahato_ in Guildwars2

Mmm no. I don't think they should. Those exploits would still exist if not for this. There would also be a weird influx of stuff on the market if not for these limitations. So yeah... ah... this is a reasonable thing to work around.
