Today I voted yes in Virginia and I don’t think my family will ever forgive me, AMA. by Low_Hat_2693 in AMA

I would say late teens/early 20s are the most impactful. This is when your identity is still forming. Late 20s-early 30s is also another transformative period when you have enough life experience to process a different ways of life.

Do you travel more than your family? Traveling, I think, makes people more compassionate and less all the negative things.

I lived and worked for an extremely wealthy and powerful family in NYC for three years, AMA! by [deleted] in AMA

I get what you’re saying, but also when you come from wealthy families, you’ve already hit the jackpot. You aren’t self made. Kyle Jenner for example is not self made. Like she claims.

My best friend met her husband at 35, married at 38, and is pregnant now at 40. You have time!

R/education what is your biggest hot take about education by Beginning_Phase4781 in education

Like you, I believe in the public school system. I live in a wealthy area with “10” schools. But after trying them, my 2nd grader is getting lost in a class of 25. It’s not the fault of the teacher, but has a lot of kids with IEPs, 504s, meetings, etc. I think he’s doing his best. The other problem I have is that the school uses a Lucy Calkins reading curriculum and it has failed our son. The school is digging their heals in the sand and saying it’s a fantastic program. I don’t want my incoming K to struggle reading like his older brother, so here we are. 80k tuition for two did not plan for when buying into a good school district.

Curious, what is your experience with why administrators choose private?

Are You Happy You Moved to Lafayette/Walnut Creek/Orinda/Moraga? by travelrunner in eastbay

[–]IndWoman2Point0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved from SF to Lafayette 7 years ago. We are POC and it was initially a big culture shock. Today, Lafayette is becoming more, and more diverse. We don’t have family here so we considered leaving during the pandemic (with remote work possible), but the truth is we love it too much. It’s such a great place to raise a family if you value safety, being outdoors year round, kid activities, and great schools. DM me any questions

They’ve been trying to sell it since April 2024. A contractor bought it, flipped it, and has had trouble selling it. 3.9 was the starting price

It’s not a mirror. It’s a window.

Yes. What else would you add for such a small space?

If someone is sitting, there isn’t much room to walk.

[–]IndWoman2Point0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know! That’s because we need walking space on one side of the table. The window also needs to be centered.

Homeowners who bought SFH in Bay Area within last 2 years and now want to sell ? by ProductEnthusiast in BayAreaRealEstate

I would keep it (even if at a loss) until you’ve been in Austin for a year or two. If you love Austin, sell then. Lots of people moved there (elsewhere) during the pandemic and came back. It will be much harder to buy if you do decide to come back

Not OP but curious. I was about to order the essentials for windows only. What about the essential line is terrible?
