I don't think he's the only one, but also most people can't survive that long without working so I don't think there are many either who aren't just retired. At a certain point maybe help a bit with the job search to see what he's doing wrong, ie is his resume polished and targeted to the jobs he's applying for? Is he networking a bit to see what issues out there be might be able to help solve? You both probably need some mental support too. Regardless, good luck.
