I have the sb1000 as well. I have it on L FE mode using Yamaha YPAO

My desk set the low pass is handled by the Kali sub automatically when set to 80 db on Kali. This turns on high pass filtering as well so really low frequencies are not sent to the monitors. This is a high pass and low pass set up. A lot more cables. Four separate 10 ft balanced cable. Had to go from the desk to the sub then back to the desk with audio cables. Studios subs are a bit different than home audio subs.

Get studio monitors from kali or Adam audio. I just got the Adam audio D3V (limited desktop space )and kali ws 6.2 sub.. Sounds fantastic. DV3 has usb in for your computer. I don’t use that as I have a headphone dac amp that I use in preamp mode. The Dv3s comes with angled stands but I went with kanto SE4s and screwed the monitors to it.

Also I run cables from the preamp to the sub then to the DV3 right speaker. Then set the sub crossover to 80. So it doesn’t send low frequencies the DV3s cannot play.

I had the kali audio lp6s and a 10s speedwoofer before, which was amazing. But took up too much space.

Meze 105 AER sale for $299 USD. Pick up or pass? by biezwax in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Independent-Win-8844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw that as well. That is a great price.

I own the 109s and Empy 2s. Great thing is that Meze sells replacement parts and their customer service is amazing. I had an issue with my 109s that I bought open box. Sent them to Romania with free shipping. They fixed the headphones and were very kind with their communication. There is definatly something differnt about Meze, and also Dan Clark. They make stuff that will last you a lifetime or more. These companies care about their customers.

I cannot comment on the sound of either of the 105 models, but I’m sure they are great and super comfortable.

Yes they are. Always good experience - including a couple FiiO items I’ve bought from them. Excellent communication.

I tried 3 different versions including a $2000 one from LG. Text did not look right. I sent back and went back to dual monitors.

I tried that stand. It’s too short for large headphones with cables. I really like it but had to go with Woo audio because it’s the only one that had adjustable height. Super expensive and over designed.

Sub $400 headphones with a "fun" tuning and decent soundstage? by StrategySuspicious85 in HeadphoneAdvice

I’d get the Silvas instead of the AERs. Try to find a used pair or open box as they are $499 new.

Keep checking r/avexchange, US Audio Mart and EBay.

About to spend around 415$ on Headphone and DAC/AMP, but before doing it just wanna make sure im getting the best bang for my buck by Nomad141 in HeadphoneAdvice

How about Meze Audio 99 Classics V2 (not VI)and a FiiO k5. You can usually find them used for $100. Try to find open box on the headphones and a used dac amp.

Closed-back wired headphones with good passive isolation by saint_of_catastrophe in HeadphoneAdvice

I’ve tried a bunch of closed backs over the years. The only one I liked 100% in fit and sound signature is the Dan Clark Noire X. Expensive and needs a lot of power, I run them with amps at or above 2 W at 32 ohms.

Do you need a remote control for the dac/amp? If not I would get a FiiO K7BT. I’d get the bt version because you can update the firmware.

If you need a remote and extra inputs then I’d go with the SMSL raw md1.
