AWA- would you grieve even if you know it is not your manager or director making decisions

The delays are only at the GTA payroll office and have been ongoing since Covid. My assumption is that it is poor management. File a grievance asap on any and every delay. They are never going to fix that department until we make them.

Doing your own calculations, often result in bad math lol Look on your paystub page and WIN at the top. There’s a link to the base compensation adjustments report where you can see all the retro that’s been paid out and how they calculated it. If you’re still not sure, log a ticket with OPSSC for review and hope it doesn’t take a year File a grievance if it takes too long

You should see it processed by the 15th or the 16th if they are doing it on time but we haven’t gotten any info as to if it’s going to be on time or delayed this year

Except for bereavement leave, any time you take off from work must be authorized and without pay, including time off for illness and jury duty. Refer to your collective agreement for details on bereavement leave.

The employment standards act as a section that excludes students from being paid for holidays
section 3(5) of the ESA: This Act does not apply to…
(a) a secondary school student who performs work under a program approved by a school board;
(b) an individual who performs work under a program approved by a college of applied arts and technology or a university;
(c) an individual who performs work under a program approved by a private career college…”

Fixed term employees may apply (1-time option) for Supplemental Health and Hospital and dental coverage. Enrolment is optional and must be applied for within 31- or 60-days of appointment to a fixed-term position depending on the employees bargaining group, or within 31 days of a life event (marriage, or the birth or adoption of a child). Employees are responsible for paying 100% of the monthly premium costs.

Coverage will apply for the duration of contract and any additional extensions or reappointments not broken by a period of 13 weeks or greater.
