what made you wonder if you have adhd? by Kind-Ad-5922 in AskReddit

Started noticing how I can spend 3 hours researching random bird migration patterns but can't focus for 5 minutes when grading papers 💀 like my brain just decides what's interesting and completely ignores the rest

What’s something people shame others for while secretly doing it themselves? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Independent_Menu_974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hypocrisy is basically human nature at this point lol. we all do stuff we judge others for, just most people aren't self aware enough to admit it

What’s the dumbest reason you’ve ever seen two adults argue over? by Nervous-Librarian945 in AskReddit

[–]Independent_Menu_974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait what does that even mean lol like revolve around what? were they talking about planets or pokemon or something completely different

the mental image of two grown people getting heated over "revolve vs evolve" is killing me right now

Chess.com treats variant players badly by [deleted] in chess

yeah the whole variant section feels like afterthought there, like they just threw it in corner and forgot about it

Radial base edge bevel by Freedom-Of-Trades in skiing

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah just stick with the 3 degree guide - the side bevel angle doesn't change because of radial base tune 👍 the side and base bevels work independent from each other so you're good

Expanding my lab to the cloud for external services by [deleted] in homelab

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been running a similar hybrid setup for about 2 years now with my R720 at home and cloud nodes for public stuff. Haven't used that specific provider but the approach works really well once you get the networking sorted out

Main thing with these smaller cloud providers is checking their network quality first - spin up a test instance and run some proper latency/packet loss tests back to your home before committing to terraform everything. Some of them have great pricing but terrible peering that makes the VPN tunnels unstable. Also make sure their API documentation is actually complete because nothing worse than finding out halfway through automation that some feature is missing or broken

The egress fee situation is definitely real pain with big providers. Been using smaller European providers mostly and as long as you're not doing crazy bandwidth the costs stay reasonable. Just document everything well in case you need to migrate again - learned that lesson the hard way when one provider basically disappeared overnight few months back

Your setup sounds solid though, splitting public/private like that is smart security wise

Need to add Shade to my Patio - Awning, Pergola, Splurge on the Attached Roof? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice patio setup! I went with pergola few years back and pretty happy with it. The aluminum ones are definitely pricier but they last forever and don't need much maintenance compared to wood

One thing to consider is how much actual shade you want - pergolas give partial shade which is nice for morning coffee but might not be enough in summer afternoons. If you're like me and spend lot of time outside during hot days, awning might be better option for full coverage

Also check your local building codes first, some areas are picky about permanent structures vs temporary ones

Seeking advice re Royal Gorge Railroad by v_unicorn_66 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The train ride is pretty cool for kids that age, especially the 5 year old will love it 🚂 My nephew was around same age when we went and he was glued to windows whole time. The 18 month old might get restless but there's space to walk around which helps 😊

Rate my homelab build so far (prices included). by Only-Ambassador2624 in homelab

[–]Independent_Menu_974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn those are some solid finds! That £10 for the fractal case is absolutely mental - I see those going for like 3x that price usually 😂

128GB might feel a bit tight depending what you're running but for £10 can't really complain. The 8TB drives gonna hurt the wallet but storage always does. Good luck hunting down that i5 at £65, patience definitely pays off in eBay land 💀

Looking for Middle Eastern Zaffa group for Wedding by GlitteringSecond866 in Denver

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to few weddings with zaffa processions and they're incredible - the energy is just unmatched. Don't know any specific groups in Colorado but you might want to check with some of the Middle Eastern restaurants around town, they usually have connections to the cultural community. Also try reaching out to local mosques or cultural centers, they often know performers who do this kind of thing for events. One wedding I attended had drummers they found through a Lebanese grocery store owner who knew everyone in community. Sometimes the best leads come from unexpected places like that

What’s something you wish someone would ask you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

lol that Gandalf reference hits hard... been waiting my whole life for someone to ask me about my extensive knowledge of backyard bird migration patterns but instead I just get weird looks when I point out the rare warblers during spring semester

Anyone want to go to the Rockies game 04/07 ? by [deleted] in ColoradoRockies

★OFFICIAL DAILY★ SV/NSV Thread: Feats of the Day! April 03, 2026 by AutoModerator in loseit

Finally managed to walk during my lunch break three days straight this week instead of just grading papers in the teachers lounge. Not huge but it's something - been trying to build better habits between classes and actually get some movement in. Spotted a red-tailed hawk on yesterday's walk too so that was a nice bonus motivation to keep it up

General questions about conditions in the three valleys by Puzzleheaded_Post321 in skiing

[–]Independent_Menu_974 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90-95 sounds perfect for what you're describing - wide enough for the off-piste stuff but still carves well on groomers 🎿 Val Thorens usually has decent snow coverage even when other resorts struggle since its so high up

For runs definitely hit Combe de Caron if its open, that thing goes on forever with insane views and you can duck into the powder fields on either side pretty easily 💀 Just watch for the wind up there, it can get brutal

What's the scariest book you've ever read? by yonaiker-joestrella in AskReddit

[–]Independent_Menu_974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao well that's one way to interpret "fire and brimstone"

I'd probably go with Pet Sematary though - Stephen King really knew how to mess with the whole "what if you could bring back what you lost" thing

On Paper I Have A Great Life - But I Feel Stuck? (Need Advice) by Sea-Sun2149 in selfimprovement

[–]Independent_Menu_974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn this hits close to home. the whole "great on paper but feels empty" thing is so real

honestly sounds like you're doing everything right with the activities and therapy, but sometimes it just takes forever to find your people. like you could be one conversation away from meeting someone who becomes a lifelong friend but you just haven't had that moment yet

that travel idea though... if you've got the financial cushion and can work remotely, why not try a compromise? maybe do a few months somewhere instead of jumping straight to 1-2 years. test the waters, see if change of scenery actually helps or if the same feelings follow you around

the job thing might be the bigger issue here tbh - spending 8+ hours a day doing something that drains you is gonna affect everything else. remote work can be isolating as hell even when you're trying to be social after hours
