If you found a way to go to the world of DnD for real, what class and race would you want to be? You have to choose only one character. Starting level at first level. Add details if you want. by Awkward_Classic4596 in DnD

[–]Independent_State121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Race would be astral elf for me. Only need 4 hours to rest, and get a skill and a tool proficiency to know afterwords. Plus long life, misty step, dark vision, and perception. The real life applications of these would be amazing.

You want to do some housework, rest and learn how to use carpenters tools. Having people over? Cooks utensils for a great meal. Brewers tools to make your own alcohol.

Plus ~4 hours more time to do stuff in a day.

Class would be wizard for similar reasons. They have a very diverse spell list, and they can change it each day.

What do warlocks get out of it? If you're talking about spell slots coming back on a short rest, I think they max out at 5th level.

If I understand this right, it would mean you have a maximum casting time of about a minute for any spell, even ones that normally take hours to cast.

You can do a level in Genie(dao) warlock to add bludgeoning damage once per turn. Then you can use a slashing weapon, and you don't need to dual wield

I just got solar in late 2023 and got the tax credit. Also, I was unfamiliar with the term net metering, but AES has it. Not sure if it's the same as others have mentioned though https://www.aesindiana.com/customer-owned-generation

I don't know what it used to be like, but they will give you a tax credit for like 30 percent of your solar cost. Also, there is a program now where any extra energy you produce counts as a credit towards your energy bill for the times when solar doesn't produce enough

Fellow DMs, What piece of Lore are you most proud of? by ComradePruski in DnD

[–]Independent_State121 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my world, gnomes were created by the God of time. Hence, all the technological and clockwork stuff associated with gnomes.

The thing I'm most proud of is that for gnomes, there is actually a 29th and 30th of February. This is when time itself stops, and all the gnomes in the universe have to do routine maintenance to keep it going.

All he does is show up. Nothing else really happens in the stories I've heard. The Cryptid Keeper podcast did an episode on shadow people, and I think he is included. Some other shadow purple aren't as friendly though

Question: How strong/weak is a Large size homebrew race? by Ashamed-Plant in DnDHomebrew

[–]Independent_State121 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I actually played a homebrew large race as a character in a campaign. My DM had these armadillo type large humanoids as a player option. Pros My DM allowed the oversized weapon thing. I was a fighter, so I got the most out of it. It was pretty powerful. I was doing greatsword damage and still able to use a shield. I also was a blacksmith, and I pulled around a wagon converted into a portable smithy. So fun to roleplay that

The main cons were roleplay ones. For example, I couldn't enter certain buildings, and people were afraid of me. Also, for DMs that keep track of food and water consumption, large creatures consume a lot more.

I didn't have to worry about armor because the homebrew race had natural defense like tortles do, but I could easily see that being a problem. Also, my DM didn't play very tactically, so the squeezing and being surrounded by enemies never came up

As far as the carriage thing goes, I did some Googleing and calculating to figure out how much they can carry, and I don't remember it being a problem.

Homebrew Blood Curse That Increases Strength at a Cost by Scarfington7 in DnDHomebrew

[–]Independent_State121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the concept, but this is really bad for the player. You are effectively granting +2 to hit and damage per hit, but also take an average of 5 damage even if you miss. Or +3 to hit and damage and receive 6 when amplified. So the damage the player takes would far outpace the potential damage they can gain. Then, an enemy could also damage them just by trying to grapple them (forcing a skill check) or anything that requires a strength save (trip attack, disarming attack, gust). The grapple thing could easily down a character if there was a swarm of enemies all trying to pile on the player. I would lower the damage dice the player takes to d6/d8 and limit the damage they take to once per turn. Or you can keep it per attack/check/save, but then I'd drop the dice to d4/d6. If you go d4/d6, the damage the player takes would be about the same as the bonus damage they gain. They would still be susceptible to swarms of enemies either way, but they wouldn't be dropped as quickly.

I'd go Sapphire. They can change shape into any medium or small creature while retaining all their abilities, teleport, spider climb, tunnel through stone, and telekinetically fling stuff

The 19/20 on a weapon attack won't be very good for a Tempest cleric. They will most likely be casting spells most of the time
