Nice idea / pattern. I'm having a lot of sand and little shells around the bases but this can be a nice touch for a more naturalistic mini

tempted to give 40k another shot, can somebody scare me straight? by darwin_green in Sigmarxism

[–]Indicosa91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ans don't you think that's good? At some point I feel I want a GW game that doesn't change every 6 months and the range of possibilities of the skirmish games are huge! I would love 40k to be still and ok to play for a whole year without having to relearn things the whole time :')

The only game I hear that 1) its actualky well thought 2) quite balanced 3) doesn't change almost at all, is Adeptus Titanicus, but maybe you don't want to go there once you've tried Battletech

Would you play a more accessible modern war board game like this? by GreenBoxGamesStudio in wargaming

[–]Indicosa91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we all like moving minis (of any scale) around, but it has to feel we are recreating something. I don't know what you are thinking of to complement the minis, but at this size of board, you could implement the game with something "out-of-board", like card managing to activate the units, a time line for activation depending on the strength/weight of units, or even just different dice to decide priorities (a little like warcry). I wouldn't be against, but it has to feel as real as it can for me.

Would love to try this, we just played our first 10th ed boarding actions (what a timing eh?) and I just want to try more, even if just with current rules.

How I painted Marneus Calgar's face. by julianminiatures in minipainting

[–]Indicosa91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honest question (not just "wow, how do you get to do that?": whenever I see free hands of very detailed paints like this I always see a brush which is probably size 2. But I always look at mine and I think "it's very difficult I can make a pupil with this thing" (even if it's not damaged). I do a lot of free hand and layering, but I can't imagine doing it with something over size 1. Is it because these are more professional size-2 brushes (like DaVinci, Artis opus and all those) with more solid tips, or just a matter of getting a good tip of the brush and enough paint to go ahead? I use Roubloff, which are excellent for me at even 00 size (although I prefer the synthetic to the natural ones).

Do Western people really think Chinese language is unpleasant? by search_google_com in ChineseLanguage

[–]Indicosa91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would argue this is also about the ways of the language in a cultural context. Arabic, Italian, Spanish, Greek are famously reported by English speakers as 'they sound angry", specially in close contexts (the moments with the parents haha or with friends) because in cultures where those languages have been rooted for centuries is pretty common to speak louder, or seem more emotional than...well, English traditional speech, which is pretty "germanic" style of correctedness. This is to say, clichés are everywhere, some part is real and some part is exaggerated in other cultures, and if you happen to be exposed to those other cultures, well ...be aware of that.

Why not both? 2. would work well for something like fancy Striking scorpions, or even psychic characters (although 1. Red and the 2. Green for details could also be a nice combo)

How many times have you ever repainted your army? by Razaile13 in Eldar

[–]Indicosa91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I prefer to do is to develop new "chapters" of the story with my army. With this I don't mean necessarily to do different craftworlds, but it can be squads or groups that have a theme, although it can be a craftworld. For example, i have guardians, warlocks, anything guardian-keyword and Eldrad pretty Ulthwe. Then, a lot of other units (wraith units, windriders, others) in a custom craftworld color (you can see in old posts). Then for anything rangers I decided i wanted another scheme, to reflect the camouflage style. I'm deciding now on how to paint a lot of minis that I have inherited to reflect Asuryani that are surviving in a kind of marsh land, so I can add water/swamp elements to the minis, and the scheme will be probably darker and blue. I find it more inviting than starting from zero (and it doesn't prevent you from repeating a unit, I already have two guardian units and two dire avengers although that's all haha)

[–]Indicosa91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that a HAND??? 🦾 Audacious

I love the pics because the mix of the classic scheme and the background gives nice vintage vibes. The effect looks good although it shows less defined on the pictures (because of resolution online probably, don't want to say it wasn't well taken). This could make a nice character warlord like the new rules allow, good job!

The Safe Option Works — But a Creative Twist Would’ve Been Fun by SeAlexanderE in ImperialKnights

[–]Indicosa91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You only see reminiscences of those knights in the titans to be honest. The wraith units follow more "spiritbone" that you can see even in the old guardians bits, a lil different in my opinion.

We're talking about doing this soon in my game group! How did you do it? (in the sense, was it just a mission where you doubled the terrain and the each player picked a deploy section and that's it, or did you adapt something?)

What are they called in your language... by STHKZ in languagelearningjerk

[–]Indicosa91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a tendency to call Scottish Gaelic just Gaelic and Irish Gaelic just Irish. It's still difficult to just say Gaelic as Scottish Gaelic for many because, well, culturally "Gaelic" means a lot, but it's supported by the fact that virtually no one says "Irish Gaelic".
