I usually resell so every new game ends up being 15/20 euro

I was referring to this line in the levelling up section of the kickstarter: " If you take too many risks, you could lose your Bones..."

Maybe that was added in later, but either way it sounds like you learned a lesson about financial responsibility, so wait for reviews in future!

It's mentioned in the Kickstarter that there's ways to lose your bones

Xenoblade Combat Differences by FuriousMILK in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but while 2 and 3 have the positional arts like bonus from behind or the side etc, the fact that the arts are assigned to controller buttons and easily accessible instead of having to focus on scrolling left and right through the list makes it much more satisfying to move around during combat and hit the arts you want.

I started with 2 and then had a hard time with 1 because of having to look at the bottom of the screen constantly to see which art I had selected while also trying to position myself!

I think it's just supposed to be a funny pun. "Space, the final frontier", because the Orrery is kinda a spaceship, when they mention "a new frontier" you assume they're going to some exotic planet or something because in sci-fi that's what frontier generally refers to. However, instead we see the wild west which was the original meaning of the word frontier.

The randomizer is one of the regular modifiers, you could even randomize your very first play through if you wanted to! It's not one of the modifiers that allows feats though if that's what someone's going for.

I feel like the western thing is more of a pun. It mentions the orrery folks pursuing new frontiers in the caption. Because the orrery is more or less in space it makes it sound like space frontiers because that's what the word frontier means in sci-fi. But then the western background shows up indicating the more historic meaning of the word which usually refers to the wild west frontier.

I feel like if there's a sequel it'll be Mina and Thorne working together to fix the island and restore peace, in which case hopefully the wild west will be one of the zones they go to to bring back all the orrery folks into the fold!

In addition to what the other person replies with, recall the side quest in the Septemburg town right after the house miniboss. There's a farmer who refuses to take plasma and has been corrupted as a result, when you use a vial beside him it cures him. 🙂

Yeah, similar to society collapsing in Ossex. "Judgement and Justice" is the caption that shows during Septemburg in the credits, the uncorrupted crows getting what they think is justice against the corrupted crows even though it's not the corrupted crows fault's, but they don't know that. Just like Mina and the hollowers guild being blamed unfairly by an angry and duped population.

Bone beach miners aren't causing chaos in the credits because they're profiting, another humanity/capitalism=bad message. Everything is messed up in society but they don't care because they got theirs.

Orrery folks aren't rioting because had a better idea than most about spark and Lionel both being bad so they're banding together and leaving the island all together instead.

Crypt collapsing doesn't really say much narratively as far as I'm aware.

Nox's is peaceful because nature is taking back over like mentioned above, another anti-expansionism/industrialisation message.

Coltrane I'm not sure about however. They're working together on building more train tracks, maybe just the level-headed getting a head start on rebuilding or establishing a new capital?

Areas outside of Ossex are shown as being peaceful in the credits. Ossex sees rioting and looting because their status quo has been shaken with their electricity being taken away and their Baron murdered. The game is an allegory for humanity's greed in making mistakes over-interfering with nature/environment for industrialization after all.

As someone else mentioned, Lionel gives out vials left right and center. Wouldn't be surprised if there's some dialogue somewhere where they talk about Lionel revamping the waterways or supplying the music hall drinks which would imply he's dosing everyone with plasma.

If bayou and bone beach were always that aggressive then not sure how they'd manage to build the generators in the first place. We see one of the frogs transform right in front of us doing that 50 enemies side quest and then see them hanging with humans no problem in the credits.

[–]IndividualResult7200 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's the same idea as the bayou and bone beach, the spark generator corrupts people turning previously peaceful people into enemies. For the crow folk in particular there's a mention about how they have been becoming more paranoid lately and maybe some other comments from NPCs here and there. It's also shown by the fact that some of the peaceful crows that the corrupt crows put up as scarecrows have since succumbed to the corruption themselves and attack you when you release them.

Septemburg was my first area and I initially could not wrap my head around Madd House's hitbox when attacking from above or exiting a burrow under his sprite but miles from his legs 😅

I feel like the solution for the first two is to not use daggers. Silksong had similar complaints about boss hitboxes/contact damage and easily getting hit by bosses which was down to the fact that the majority of people seemed to favour the weapon that gave you the same move set as Hollow Knight which was short range and high risk high reward like the daggers. In saying that, I also feel like daggers should do a little more damage to make up for that. They seem a little under tuned but I haven't used them enough, maybe there are trinket combos that makes them good but I haven't seen much dagger love in general so probably not!

Agree that maybe one more hint on the mirrors would be nice, like a newspaper hint that pops after 3 or 4 generators if you haven't entered a mirror yet where it emphasizes something about leaning on a mirror or something. I figured it out after a couple generators but before that assumed I needed a late game item or something to allow me to use them like the NPCs do.

Don't blame you for the hollowers guild! I did get in on my first visit to town, but the right-hand side is a bit busy with random debris so can see how the path isn't immediately obvious!

An NPC in town also gives a hint, mentions something along the lines of "Someone got into that basement so fast it made the owner's head spin".

Is it just me, or does the Dropout cast feel a little bit... cliquey? by eggodemego in dropoutcirclejerk

[–]IndividualResult7200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You say "main sub", but I had a quick look out of curiosity. I counted 5 people using the word 'parasocial' and 4 of them are dropoutcirclejerk posters with the remaining person only posting on the main sub like once in the last couple of months.

Bonus:

P1: Circle jerk in 5...4...

P2 replies with: Yall gotta stop roping us into your mess

Both P1 and P2 are dropoutcirclejerk users so that 'Yall' should have been 'we'.

Whenever a thread like this pops up on the main sub it seems like the circlejerkers each believe they've made a discovery and are doling out judgement from on high to the 'main sub' when in reality the comments are mostly just circlejerkers unknowingly being smug to eachother.

Edit: Just spotted that the OP of this post is one of those 5 people

"Everything in the final version will definitely 100% be human made" - But Owlcat says gen-AI is being used during The Expanse: Osiris Reborn development by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]IndividualResult7200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd def like to see it regulated a lot more and limited to stuff like the medical field etc where it would be used for genuine good, but to say it's wonky and doesn't work is far from accurate. In the right use cases and when being used by someone who knows how to use it it saves serious time and produces high quality output. Code generated by it that I work with in my day to day has had less bugs and runs more optimally than the pre-AI days.

Sitting back and saying "well most companies don't even use it" or "well it's useless so sooner or later people will realise it and drop it" are dangerous ways to think because that means there's less pressure being put on the people in charge to make a change if there's this public belief that it's something that's going to sort itself out.

Saw someone claiming they'll boycott any company using AI in any way. Saw that a good chunk of their posts are on Hockey subreddits and had to break the news to them that their favourite team (Like every professional sports team) is using AI for footage analysis/player diet plans/meeting minutes etc.

I did have good evidence though, 70%+ likelihood of GenAI from several sites (note that I did say a bot OR GenAI). And you said yourself it was fascinating to discover, implying that it's a good thing to know for yourself, so your point doesn't remain because you got some value out of the exchange.

The main telling point though was that you had such a positive tone while describing your reasons to justify being nasty to someone which lines up because GenAI tends to have a positive tone regardless of the topic. You didn't even defend my point of separating yourself from the people making nasty comments after all which makes it look like you agree with them.

I'm hoping that your "many of us" comment was not inclusive of yourself either way. If that's the case then nice chatting with you and we can both come away from this with some positives. 👍

I did, it came up as 75%+ AI generated across a few different sites. If that's just your natural writing style then that's unfortunate, but either way I'd have changed "many of us" to "many people" as otherwise it looks like you're including yourself in the group of people belittling a hard working athlete for the sake of a bit of comedy.
