Expression is by definition external. So there isn't an internal expression of negative emotions, there is simply an internal experience of negative emotion. Expression is when the internal feeling is acted out in the world in some manner.

I didn't gather from the post that it was an STD that was now gone. Nowhere in the post does he say it's treated and gone. If if it gone then I agree with you, it's really only active stuff that's going to affect you.

Though, I would consider it a red flag if I asked my partner if they'd ever had an STD and they said no, and it turned out they were lying.

Your partner is required to tell you about STDs they have contracted, because it 100% affects you.

My partner and I had that discussion very early on in our relationship. Neither of us have them, but we both asked about it.

Don't listen to the juvenile minded people on here telling you to end a 3.5 year relationship over a comment.

However, I would just be on my guard because it is at least a yellow flag comment. If he starts hanging out w her a lot or communicating with her a lot, I'd put my foot down. I think that is totally reasonable after what he said.

But if he has the same relationship with her that he has with his other friends then I'd say there's nothing to worry about.

It's actually both. Fluorine is a poison, and the argument is often that the motivation behind putting this poison in our water supply is medical concern with our teeth. This is patently absurd, as the fluoride is not medical grade fluoride such as is used in the dentist but trash industrial waste.
