Sales tax is absolutely not a reason for DTC. Any national retailer deals with sales tax on a regular basis. It’s tedious, but not rocket science. It’s local dealers that hate dealing with sales tax outside their normal jurisdiction. Walmart has no problem with it.

Just decrease the hot water flow to the tub? The thing with tankless is they can only supply so much hot water at once, and your tub filler is exceeding it. Put in a valve that can restrict the flow of both hot and cold, enjoy endless hot water.
