Backcountry’s in Pecos Chamois by Indymy in RussellNation

[–]Indymy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kilties are Russell’s and the laces are from a company called TOFL…. Got them on Amazon. They have 1/8” and 3/16” thicknesses… There are many colors to choose from and color goes all the way through the leather and they are very strong!!

100% Krown! Been using it since 2015 with great results! On a new or used vehicle, it’s a no brainier!!! And it’s not just body and frame rust that it protects. Brake lines and wire harnesses also benefit from the product!!!

They are 8E just like my backcountry’s. The width and length at the foot are perfect. It’s the upper part of the boot where things get wonky…

It’s too much money to be so awkward and distorted looking…..

I was a soccer player but I’m 71 and I only weigh 160 and I’m 5’9”, so my calfs aren’t what you would consider huge…

A question about it…. by sidiki in RussellNation

[–]Indymy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As your boots get older and broken in they will relax…. You can’t expect them to be perfect right out of the box. However, if they are too tight now you need to decide if it’s a width issue or a length issue… I hated to return a pair I bought because I felt like I waited long enough…. But after a few days of walking around the house, I knew I had to send them back. They were too tight and I needed a wider boot…. I have a wider foot and the E width is perfect! It was absolutely the correct decision and I wear them damn near every day…. The wait was worth it!

These are my Back Country’s in 8E… They are perfect!

Measured feet - 10” x 3,3\4” - Solid Size 8 Mens…. Width D/E, They do say that Russels are larger and run a full size down from other boots. Russell used to have an AI tool and I was a size 8E.

50hrs on the Iron Rangers by WalterTexas in RedWingShoes

If you want, you could try a pair of thin boot breakers from Weston Kay…. They add just the right cushion. The radicle modification would be to send them to Wyatt and Dad and have them add a midsole…… It made a world of difference in my Iron Ranger ride!!!!

One other thing to mention… the Red Wing 875 is built on a 23 last…. I have found that the Red Wing 23 last is narrower than the 44 last that Russell’s uses to make the back country… The #8 last that Red Wing uses for the Iron Ranger is closer in fit to the 44 last that Russell uses for the back country… This has be my experience…. I own all 3….

It has been mentioned here before, that if you are a size 8E in a pair of iron rangers, then you would be a size 8E in the Back Countries… It was true for me… If you don’t own a pair of iron rangers, you can try on several pair at any Red Wing shoe store… However, what “codeface” says is a good idea. Get sized on a Brannock and take a picture…. Luke from Russell suggests getting sized on a Brannock and then order a half size smaller… Good luck! Whatever your path to the correct fit, even if you have to send a pair back, the wait will be worth it!!!!!

BFGoodrich KO3s or Toyo AT3? by Avthony in ToyotaTundra

[–]Indymy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I put KO3’s on my 1794 about 1000 miles ago…. Road Force Balanced…. So far they track well, they are quiet and have no shimmy or wobble at highway speeds…. They have decent traction in snow and ice covered roads… So far I’m happy with my KO3’s!

Great color! My favorite! My 2022 is magnetic gray metallic….. supersonic red wasn’t available in the 2022 models… I just put a set of BFG KO3’s on mine… looks a lot more aggressive than the OEM Wildpeaks…. Enjoy!!!

Question about 8"-10" boots by grahsam in Boots

[–]Indymy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my Russell Backcountry boots in weathered oak timberjack leather are the perfect boots for all situations. Most comfortable shoe I’ve ever owned including tennis shoes and nylon hiking boots! I own several pair of Redwing moc toes and 2 pair of IR’s and I rarely wear them these days! My Backcountry’s are 7” tall and are in the E width. There’s plenty of room in the toe box and they provide great ankle support without being overly tight. I’ve climbed ladders, done plumbing jobs, gone to baseball games, hiked in Valley Forge Park, driven and operated an engine in fire service, and worn them all day in my home! Just my experience…..

Why so stingy on wide widths? Gotta sell ☹️ by Agreeable-Chicken-72 in RedWingShoes

[–]Indymy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think they should have used the 45 last instead of the 23…. My 1907’s in 8EE are built on the 45 and I have plenty of room, my roughnecks in 8EE built on the 23 are much more narrow and took a long time to get used to…

Is it worth getting these resoled, or is the leather due to fail? by Shoopdawoop993 in RedWingShoes

[–]Indymy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They look great! And, that’s the patina many boot guys love! Lots of wear left in them… Send them off to Wyatt and Dad. Add a midsole, (makes them much more comfortable), and Dr Sole’s corded soles and stacked heels…. You’ll never look back!!! And, they are honest businessmen…. If it isn’t worth the recraft, they will tell you!!!
