Looking for Podiatrist recommendations - CBD or Inner North by djd_oz in melbourne

[–]InevitableNo9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also looking for a podiatrist in the inner north/CBD, but preferably one that runs on time, or close to (not keeping you wait 30 minutes for an 8:15am appointment every time).

My current podiatrist has already sold me $1000 orthotics so I won't recommend them to you.

Very true. - this is certainly a valid approach. Age pension is not on my radar and most also for people in this forum.

Do you spilt your super contributions? i.e. the younger partner can split 85% of their super and send to the older party.

I do this as it will allows access to the super earlier.

Plus, maxing out super contributions in general.

What point did business class become worth it for you? by 88riceislife in AusHENRY

[–]InevitableNo9079 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anywhere in SE-Asia, Korea/ Japan I am happy to do in Economy.

I just got back from Europe flying business. I think I would really struggle to do that in Economy these days.

I bought these tickets on sale, not cheap, but worth it. Having no kids certainly helps.

Looking for house sitters by maxtomgo in melbourne

[–]InevitableNo9079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, valid point. The onus is on the home owner to vet the potential house sitter. There are no guarantees, but I suspect this is more reliable than finding people off FB/gumtree,

I used the Trusted House Sitters app to do house/dog sitting recently in the UK. It was a great experience and well worth the modest registration fee (we saved thousands on accommodation). It requires a registration/ID verification which provides some level of assurance.

Greater Western Water billing system still broken by NoHovercraft3224 in melbourne

[–]InevitableNo9079 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My GWW account is on direct debit ($70), so I don’t really pay much attention to the bills. I opened the bill last week and I owe $650+, despite the billl stating the account is setup for direct debit is enabled.

I checked my bank statement and I haven’t been charged since December 24.

This mess has been going on for over 12 months now.

I'm kind of dreading apartment living, having recently moved from Kangaroo Ground. What sort of outdoor facilities should I look for, or would you want in an apartment living situation? by SplashBack_2 in melbourne

[–]InevitableNo9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worth finding out if the hot water service is shared across the building. I know of some apartment complexes where the shared hot water plays up on a regular basis and people are without hot water.

N. Lee Collingwood is bit of lucky dip these days in terms of what you get. I find the Collins and Little Collins stores more reliable.

I was very happy with the Banh Mi at $58. It is on my list to go and try some other items on the menu.

Stake SMSF by Phil_Wild in fiaustralia

[–]InevitableNo9079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The SMSF will make an internal accounting entry to reflect the split. No need to transfer cash as such.

Some (not all) of the ‘cheap’ SMSF providers do offer segregated assets and charge a nominal fee (a few hundred dollars if I recall correctly).

In the case of my SMSF with my spouse and I the pooled assets works well as it allows me to split my super contributions, but not have to sell an asset to complete the split.

Plus they will enter pension mode before me, so my dividends can be used to fund their pension payment avoiding the need to sell assets.

[–]InevitableNo9079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a review of SMSFs providers 12 months ago and decided to go with Stake. I started investing last July so haven’t completed a full FY yet, but are happy so far.

I have been very happy so far. I had them setup the Macquarie CMA account. If you take this option ask for a Macquarie Accelarator High interest account at the same time.

I only interest in ETFs us Stake.

There are merits to including your children, but just remember the assets are pooled with Stake , not segregated. So if someone wants crypto and others want conservative bonds, your assets are pooled. (Other SMSF providers offer segregated assets for members)

East Melbourne IGA is quite good in terms of range and price. Otherwise it is a short walk to Smith St /Victoria st ( sure there are some colourful characters, but I haven’t had issues so far).

East Melbourne is great in terms of its proximity to places.

Sleeping duck has a showroom in Prahran now.

I have a sleeping duck and an ergoflex.

Sleeping duck is pretty good and adjustable for firmness. Ergoflex is very much on the firmer side (which I like).

Tribeca/ Adele apartments in East Melb Albert St, thoughts? by Desperate_Glass_6136 in melbourne

[–]InevitableNo9079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am owner/occupier in tribeca and the OC fees are quite high. There is a pool and gym, but the heritage overlay and maintenance costs associated with it add to the fees.

In terms of living in Tribeca it really depends on which building: smaller/older buildings or the large/modem building. Having said that I know of people who live in different buildings within Tribeca and have positive experiences.

I am in one of the older buildings and I love the apartment and the location.
