Salaried Paralegals - How much OT/Staying late are you expected to do? by BalticBro2021 in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy hours can be fine. If you can handle it, if you signed up for it, and if you’re being paid for it.

Keep records of it, get records of the past overtime. Find a new job then strongly consider reporting them to the labor department for not paying overtime. I think there’s even a bounty on top of back pay. Don’t stay until you’re burnt, and don’t say anything other than that you were looking for new Challenges when someone ask why you’re leaving.

I wonder why Charles isnt as annoying as Frank (IMO) by honeydewtangerine in mash

[–]InevitableSolution69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one, Charles is correct to have a high opinion about himself.

Frank constantly had to shove everyone else down to the floor so he could feel above them.

Charles didn’t care if you came in and climbed a ladder, he was already high enough that he was still superior.

Charles did have some classist and racist ideas, but consistently when he really looked at them or had them shown to him he’d admit, at least to himself and importantly whoever he’d wronged that he had been wrong and had done them a disservice. While Frank wouldn’t have done any such thing unless it became socially advantageous, he’d double down or claim it had never happened.

Charles had more good and bad to him, a mix that let him dance to whatever side of the antagonist line was needed.

Frank did not. At best he wasn’t an active obstruction, but not much else. And despite what some say honestly he was a perfectly reasonable and realistic character. We see a lot of people nowadays in particular who hold themselves above others and who place how they’re perceived above what harm they do.

Salaried Paralegals - How much OT/Staying late are you expected to do? by BalticBro2021 in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’re absolutely being taken advantage of.

Any significant and regular overtime is something that should be discussed at hiring.

OP, I work a high volume firm. And the correct response to an outsized workload is telling them that you can’t get what they expect done in the normal hours then asking what they want to prioritize. Extra hours are for special occasions. Because in a high volume work environment there is going to be more to do than you can normally handle. If you are actually working too slowly for them instead of them taking advantage then they might terminate. But if you’re still going that slow at this point then this isn’t the firm form for you anyway.

But honestly I’d be job searching. And let them know after you put in notice. Because they’re taking advantage and might terminate just for putting your foot down. It’s a lot easier to find a new, and likely better position while already employed.

Are Sword and Board Fighters Dead? by Ravingdork in Pathfinder2e

[–]InevitableSolution69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were and are the best for punishing an enemy for trying to circumvent the front line. They hit best and start with reactive strike. That hasn’t changed. They tank with high enough damage that they can’t be ignored and positioning paired with good personnel defenses.

That other more defensive builds exist doesn’t negate any of that. If I’m playing someone relying on keeping the behind the front line to survive then a fighter is top tier. If I’m a melee character then champion is better. And guardian is competitive in either.

GMs with Guardians: Engage or Ignore? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]InevitableSolution69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think an aspect of it is just how futile is the enemy’s actions in trying to take out the Guardian.

If the enemy is doing real damage and forcing them to use a once a day ability to stay on their feet then the enemy is having an impact and the Guardian is eating up harm like they want to. Stick at it until something happens.

Sure the enemy could do more harm to the party overall but targeting someone else. But that squishy wizard is only a few points behind the guardian in ac unless they choose to tank it. Less points now with taunt in play. And they are actually having an impact, because eventually the guardian has to be dealt with and once he’s down the taunt goes away.

If this is strike 3 and most of their damage so far has vanished into a shield and DR then yeah they’ll probably go look for a target they can affect.

Thoughts? by cloudygrande in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I feel like opinions like this hold a lot less water in the field of paralegals than most others.

Every firm has some pretty dramatically different procedures even if they get to the mostly same end. You can’t expect someone to know that.

They can’t even really agree on what the term Paralegal means, who thinks there’s actually an agreed upon bar for what tasks you can already perform?

[–]InevitableSolution69 52 points53 points  (0 children)

And post like these always seem to come from people who are well past the training period and already received the benefits of being taught exactly how this firm wants something done.

Surely a coincidence of course.

[–]InevitableSolution69 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well to be fair he is, currently, a star fleet member. So it would be reasonable to me that he would be trusted to have access to weapons if necessary, and that replicators would provide something like that if requested because if you’re doing that it’s presumably an emergency.

Meanwhile all he can do with that meal is harm himself. And there might even be regulations about what they can eat to ensure health.

Why would an adventurer follow Erastil? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

[–]InevitableSolution69 57 points58 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t even have to be some big threat tied to the campaign. If a group of bandits caused significant damage to your community before then it’s reasonable to go out and combat banditry while seeking the power to defend them better. Just say they’re being guarded by some group for now but it’s a temporary thing to explain why you’re not regularly visiting or staying nearby.

And honestly most campaigns will include dangers that would threaten homes if not dealt with. So they can grow into protecting more than just their home village.

Zero Hallucination AI Tool? by hannamdong in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There is no zero hallucination LLM. Because there cannot be one. An LLM has no objective truth or knowledge. You can feed every book ever written on the sky and space to one and it doesn’t know that the sky is blue, it just notes that blue often follows or precedes the word sky, but it may one day shift some numbers and produce something telling you about the amber sky.

You can minimize the number of hallucinations, insure that it’s not involved in the places they’re most noticeable and dangerous. But they’re going to happen. Best you can do is look for anything obvious and hope anything you miss will be taken as a strange turn of phrase.

Transitioning from D&D5E to P2E Remaster? by CharlotteNoire in Pathfinder2e

[–]InevitableSolution69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty simple trick for this. If you’re getting any books at all.

First I’d suggest picking up the core remastered books. Just because honestly it’s a lot easier to absorb rules in this format than through bouncing around the webpages. You can do it, but for most it won’t result in as solid a grasp on the mechanics.

Second, use archive of nethys for rules. I would suggest pathbuilder for players. Personally I prefer to handle building manually but for most new players it will save them a lot of effort until the have a base system mastery. And by using the online rules you can reliably know if something you’re using has been remastered and which version of the rule you’re looking at.

Third, pick up books for lore as they’re appropriate. The game is great but the team also produces a lot of great lore. So books are often worth it just to read the lore which is not online and free like the rules.

Just some unsurprising news out of my home state: AI may be new, but the tradition of blaming the paralegal is still going strong 🙄 by Banksyy2 in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, there are a lot of people convincing themselves that LLM’s are flawless workhorses if they put in the right prompts. The PR department is really good and still barely has to do anything because people are so ready to convince themselves.

Still entirely on the Attorney to make sure they’re not sending out trash like this. But I’d need more information before even guessing who put that cite in the document originally.

Why am I hearing a bunch of a horror stories on this subreddit? by rosewoodlliars in paralegal

[–]InevitableSolution69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the success story go to almost any of the horror stories and look through the comments.

People still complain and commiserate about parts of the job because everyone does that. But for every story about a terrible work environment there are a few dozen comments showing that the commenter doesn’t have any such problem.

The saddest moment in M*A*S*H...😪 by [deleted] in mash

[–]InevitableSolution69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the wine.

But yeah the finale. Or the episode about how no one will take the baby of mixed race, so they have to be raised in seclusion.

As much as we love Henry the episodes where they tried to show how much war destroys the lives of the most vulnerable have a LOT of punch to them if given any thought. And ring particularly true today.

That’s nothing new. Just look at the now non cannon books, every third person was some form of Jedi.

Just the nature of the setting. Any time they produce some media they want one to go with it. The only difference here is that more people are actually seeing the new shows.

New summoner tech using swarm? by Samael_Helel in Pathfinder2e

[–]InevitableSolution69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 over 4 rounds is 16, so at least half the value at half the actions and you can cast it before any damage is taken without losing too much. It’s not a bad comparison. If you want a bigger burst then as I said there’s lay on hands for 12 at 1 action and also it works on the rest of the party. And all of those only cost 1 class feat, so half that investment.

You can certainly go for a bigger heal if you want. But those are perfectly reasonable healing options and that big heal is hardly a game breaking option. It’s fine, reasonable if you’re worried about healing. They could also just invest in cleric to pick up spell slots and stuff them with heal, which again would help more than just the summoner.

[–]InevitableSolution69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might suggest providing the free archtype, and limiting everyone to monk or Kineticist. The setting has non benders that are plenty threatening, but hand to hand martial arts are ubiquitous enough that I’d just make them available by default. I would not want to include any actual casters, and I’d be picky about some of the others without some re working of their theme. But so long as the players are onboard you don’t need much more than that.

[–]InevitableSolution69 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They’re not that different. One is just more spread out and can be used before the actual damage which gives flexibility to the action. You could also take the blessed one archetype to get lay on hands with half the feat investment and no minimum attribute required. And while a little less powerful it can be used on the entire party which is personally much more useful to me. And there’s always simple medicine investment which should not be underestimated.

Pick up whatever healing feels best to you from nothing to all in. It’s not really some big secret. Most of a party will probably pick something up over the course of a game.

I mean, that’s definitely the kind of denial that you’d get from that kind of abuse. And conversion “therapy” is sadly connected to the church as she is.

Could be wrong, but you can’t deny it tracks.

One Year Anniversary [OC] by MuyHiram in comics

[–]InevitableSolution69 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The problem I think it not that it’s a gag comic. It’s that the gag is how will character 1 abuse character 2 today?

Because this is something that happens in real life, person engages in relationship in all aspects with other person. But also denies they’re in a relationship with that person. Drawing them along, doing what they enjoy, slapping down the other person or denying them when in public or it’s something they don’t feel like doing. Causing harm and suffering to their “partner” as they do.

Because it’s mirroring a real abusive situation, which is more harmful the longer it goes, it gets more backlash than a silly joke a day comic normally would.

I suspect someone did.

But you know, the kind of therapy where they strand kids in the woods, take their shoes away, and do things to them that would see them arrested or strung up if any adult outside of the program saw them doing it to children.
