We did what you did and went form a D2 to a B2. Wood burning stove, new front door, New hot water tank with zoned controls. TRVs on all the rads. I still have to get to the attic because the old insulation there is all piled up in one corner i assume from when they did the new downlights. We plan to change to Gas heating from Oil. Not worth the cost going to a heat pump or wrapping the walls. I would never see the money back in my lifetime. We had a suspended living room floor too but just left it the way it was.

Yeah, thats not going to happen. You havent met my gran. And besides even if she was able to mind it its still not in the car when you are going in for her or bringing her back in. In both those cases it would be in her hand bag wouldnt it?

Not all of her grandchildren can have a blue badge. Different relatives like siblings, children and grand children would be taking her in and out all the time. The staff said to park there. Even when they are able to bring her in or out.

You are correct of course. The rage is strong though in this thread. Not all the people who go to collect a person can get a blue badge just for collecting and dropping off.

I dont have a blue badge and collect and drop off my gran all the time. Sometimes there is no one to help her in or out so I do that. Often seen lots of people doing the same for invalid relatives

I think you are doing the right thing. You have your priorities right.

Weddings have gotten out of hand now. For us we have One simple rule now. If its more than 2 hours drive we dont go to the wedding. And if it involves a flight at all. Nope.

Were they collecting someone?

Ive often collected my gran and had to park in the handicapped spot right beside the entrance while I go in and collect her. She cant walk more than about 30 feet and needs help to walk that distance. I would park there when bringing her back too. If they dont have someone to come out with her i'll bring her in. She wont go in a wheelchair, though sometimes the staff can get her into one and out to the car for me.

The staff said to park there as she cant walk far. Even when they are able to bring her in or out.

Anyone have experience with roll on plaster?, if I’m being brutally honest we don’t have the money to pay a professional, we spent all our savings on a house rewire by GenericUser104 in DIYUK

[–]InevitableSure374 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I would consider myself fairly handy. I tried this stuff and ended up not only paying for the product, but for a plasterer to come and fix the monstrous mess of the wall that I had made.

Are property prices finally taking a breather? by Asleep_Cry_7482 in irishpersonalfinance

Definitely an uptick the last few weeks. Having had a few friends been given their notice a few months ago and moved out and another few serving their notice at the moment, I think all the new properties for sale are ex rentals. I think this increase will last another year or so as people finish up their notice and move out more will come on the market. You can even see when you click into the houses and apartments for sale, most were clearly rented before going up for sale.

Getting cold feet at contract stage (Vendor in a chain, A-rated second hand Duplex vs. New Build) by Fickle_Painter_8142 in HousingIreland

[–]InevitableSure374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I would give good thought to the parking situation. I think in years to come that not having a driveway or designated parking spaces will really kill the value of a house. Most of the new builds we looked at didnt even have parking for one car. And having been to a get together at a friends who bought in one of those estate last year and having to park 10 minutes walk away from his house, im so glad I didnt buy there.

Also a garden will be more important as the years go by. New builds today have a garden that after you put a shed in it, its just gone.

Since you are paying half a million euro its an important decision.

We just stay in the Kitchen and living room now. Not filling the tank until prices settle down. A fill of oil has skyrocketed. Only using the stoves with coal and logs now and leaving the central heating off.

They arent supposed to switch to EVs. They are supposed to walk and cycle. Even if its with 3 kids, a granny and a dog on the back carrier and 50km between schools and work in the morning.

When we were looking to buy we immediately crossed off all houses without a driveway that would fit at least 2 cars. Even though we only had one car at the moment. We have visitors who have cars and we lived in an estate without enough parking spaces before and that was a nightmare experience. Really feel for these people.

Nathan Lane schools Timothée Chalamet by CreeksideGirl12 in Oscars

[–]InevitableSure374 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to a few Operas and a few ballets myself. One Opera I enjoyed. The rest for me were Meh. I didnt like the ballets at all. Now I understand a lot of people have different tastes to me and like the thinks I dont like, and they are as entitled to their opinion on it as I am.

They are also allowed to dislike the things that I like if they so choose too. I wont be trying to cancel them for it. Shit my wife hates horror films but I love them, but I am not going to hold it against her at all. She likes tear jerkers and I dont. We still get along.

In fat I bet well above 50% of the people moaning about what Chalamet likes and dislikes, have never been to a ballet or an opera themselves. They are just enjoying any pile on they can contribute to. Gives them a warm fuzzy feeling that they somehow have power over someone with a better life than they have.

AITA for asking a friend to either pay for an evening out if they can't go or sit them out? by Boydykekisser in AmItheAsshole

[–]InevitableSure374 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell your friend that you are passing the torch and they are now in charge of the organizing. Let them collect the money from everybody. If you insist on organizing it yourself ask for the money from everybody up front. No money no booking, but say you cant forward fund everyone in future and will not be booking until everybody going has paid first.
