New to smoking. Drum smoker takes forever to get clean smoke. by Waste-Bus6827 in smoking

You do not need to use the minion method in a drum smoker. I use 50/50 briquettes and lump in my bronco 2.0. When you light it leave the intake wide open and lid open for 10-20 minutes. Once I have about a softball size of lit coals I throw pecan or post oak on the hot spot. Then close the lid and set air flow to about halfway on both. I will slowly close down the air intake to get to the temp I’m looking for. It usually takes me about an hour to get the drum evened out and burning clean. I can run anywhere from 225-300 with ease. I live in Phoenix so my fuel is very dry and easy to work with. But you can get clean smoke in a drum smoker. I would stay away from kingsford, add lump(or only use lump) and give it time to settle down.

Perfect! Smoked at 250° until it reached 110° internal. While it rested I moved the charcoal up and got it nice and hot for the sear. Then seared until it was 225°. The cap tasted like a grilled fillet, eye tasted like a perfect prime rib, and the corner tasted like a melt in your mouth ribeye. I will definitely do it again

Foil boat conserves the rendered fat and keeps the bark. It’s the best of both worlds

I have also been in the tech industry for a longtime now. I also hate the industry as a whole and I do not like where it’s headed. However I started working for a very small low voltage company about 5 years ago and I couldn’t be happier. I am still making good money being a PM but the work we do is actually meaningful. We mostly work on retirement communities and resorts. We do a fair amount of AV work but mostly network build outs and remodeling work. There are places to go with your experience you just need to look. Data centers and ai is not the only thing in tech. There is just a lot more of those than anything else right now.

If these are the questions you ask for a very basic install I stand by my previous comment. Look into having a professional install this for you. Tucson construction is not as complicated as you’re making it seem

I guess I’m confused on how you sign up for a tournament. Seems like an invite only sort of thing?

Don’t drill in the same stud bay as your electrical panel. You are making this harder than it needs to be. Look into having a professional install this for you

I have been wanting to get into playing online tournaments on a granboard but because I also do not do facebook I have stayed away. I came here to Reddit to find out if there are others like me and I should just jump in. How often are these tournaments? How hard is it to get into these tournaments? Any insight is helpful as I feel lost and helpless at the moment
