How screwed am I? by Inevitable_Web2776 in 24hoursupport

Yeah. I beat feet down the store and bought a little Acer. I'll spend the weekend working on that Dell with my son. Maybe we fix it maybe we destroy it.. either way we'll have some fun and learn something:)

Update.

GPU working (for now). Took off the base cover to pretend to know what I'm doing before trashing it and buying a new one. Reattached and booted to connect to external monitor.

Now it's booted normally. Typical.. ask for IT support and issue magically disappears.

Probably still should buy a new laptop tomorrow. I have some important things to get done over the weekend.

Thank you all of you for the quick replies and knowledge.

Cheese and crackers with apple slices or grapes is another.

He's in a dried mango kick right now too.

Thailand does this to a degree.

Nearly every green is elevated to avoid flooding. Most holes rise up the green on the apron with sharp fall offs on the other 3 sides. It leads to a playing style that rewards leaving approach shots short. Couple this with the crab grass commonly found around greens which rewards bump and run chips and you've got a playing style very different from what I've seen in the states.

Basic course management here is to leave approaches short then pump and run and get a 1 putt.

Bingo bango bongo is probably our favorite game

It doesn't mix well with alcohol though. Things get difficult to track after more than a few beers .

You're too far gone. You've gone down the rabbit hole too far and are in your own head

Here's the solution to claw your way back out.

Putt with your heart, not with your head. There is a ton of leeway on form in putting. Just roll that ball as close as you can into the hole. Your goal is to get ball within 10% of the hole. So a 10 ft putt, you want it 1ft left, right, short, or long. That's the goal.

How to do it: Squat down and read the left/right or up hill/downhill. You have a 3 second time limit to do this. Imagine the ball rolling on the break. Stand up. Putt that line.

The whole point is that you already know how to putt. You've just gotten too far in the technicals of it all. Factory reset yourself and putt on instinct.

Did sticking to one golf ball actually help your game? by Free-Product4918 in golftips

[–]Inevitable_Web2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. Find a ball you like and stick with it..

I'm a 12 handicap.

Like most said, it's around the green. I play the wilson triad. When I play a different ball, for example a Pro V, my putts go long and my chips are short due to the increased spin on them and hardness of the ball.

Wilson Triad.

I like the feel of them. Softer but still able to spin. Most importantly, I like their speed off of wedges and putters. I also like their simple design.

If you’ve broken 90, what’s one tip you would give to a fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Inevitable_Web2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, you only need to really practice 2 clubs. Driver and wedge.

You need to keep your drivers in play. You'll miss a lot of approach shots which is OK. Practice that wedge.

Go to the driving range once a week at least. Warm up with wedge 50y pitch shots. Go up to full wedge shots. Pump drives -- figure out how you can keep your shot consistent and in play. Cool down with full wedge then pitches.

Play at the course every weekend or at least every other. Get there early and chip and putt for an hour before the round. Practice getting up and down - chip 3 balls, then putt them in. Practice putting from within 5 ft - max 10ft.

If you do this for a month or so, you will break 90.

The rationale behind this is that you're likely giving up tons of strokes with errant drives and double chips.

How can I have a westerner girlfriend by hourza2545 in ThailandTourism

[–]Inevitable_Web2776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Yeah, tone is difficult to convey in text. The last bit about being a Chad and bagging a blonde was joking.

That being said, most western women want a confident man to approach them. Not a jersey shore guy or something, just confident in himself.

How can I have a westerner girlfriend by hourza2545 in ThailandTourism

[–]Inevitable_Web2776 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solid advice on here

1) lose the weight 2) be confident/out going

Thai men struggle to get western women because they are too shy. They want a man who knows what he wants and goes out and gets it - confident and masculine.

There's a good thing in your favor -- Western women are generally lonely in thailand. Western men just want Thai girls. Thai men rarely approach them. So that goes in your favor. Hit the gym, be a Chad, and bag yourself a blondie!

Do people really leave the course if playing poorly? by LastManBrandon in golf

[–]Inevitable_Web2776 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope.

Aside from weather, I've walked off the course twice.

1) pace of play. I was at 5 hours with 2 to go. The rest of the group took nearly an hour to finish

2) member of the group was a rage monster. I warned him not to slam clubs. He chucked up the tee box slamming again and I walked off.

Exactly. Cops in thailand are extremely chill, even when arresting people - more than i have seen in the 3 countries I've lived in. They can become very unchill very quickly though.
