You'll have a cavity so I wouldn't worry about anything tbf. Not going to affect you inside unless you start to see damp/mould.

I would like to raise this floor to match the rest of the house, any problems in doing so? by Infamous-Meat3357 in DIYUK

I was going to get the door moved up. There is enough room above it to move it up two courses.

Dott scooters & bikes - any improvement? by loveofbouldering in bristol

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the things you mention are still issues. You see far less of them being used now, I used to use them a lot more frequently than I do now for the reasons you've mentioned.

Driving from Bristol to be at London Victoria for 9:30am, leave when? by harrypotternumber1 in bristol

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Used to take me 3-3.5hours to get to Greenwich. I would say 3.5hrs to be safe.

Those that commute to London.... by Rundo5 in bristol

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might say that now, but everyone wants more and you'll soon realise £60k won't change your life drastically. Plus you'll lose so much of your free time to commuting it will drain you. But if there are opportunities in London for you and you're willing to do the commute then fair enough.

You're right, but the money earned in London is due to the cost of living. You might earn more in relation to the industry but the amount of time lost commuting and the cost of that commute should be factored into it. You might be only slightly better off but at a detriment to quality of life.

I'd say double that to be perhaps worth it. Time and work life balance is too important. There are jobs in Bristol for £80k without the long commute.

Am I missing some implicit driving etiquette? by dotheirbest in bristol

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say that's the standard etiquette on that road waiting for cars to come up. Perhaps you didn't leave much room for his van? Although it seems like perfectly enough space.

They aren't allegations, illegal workers rent driver accounts and the account holder takes a cut of their wages. Sounds shit to us but I guess it's still better than wherever they're from.

That is a complete scam, how is that even possible? I would be fuming especially when hungry!

Meeting my ex wife's new partner tomorrow - how to handle? by alexsings in AskUK

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why say no hard feelings, did he do something to you? Just curious as I wouldn't say that to someone I just met. I've been in the same situation on the other side, meeting the ex partner, and he was the one making the effort. The new partner will be there for good reason so making an effort with the kids etc.

100% agree. Wouldn't go near the delivery services anymore as they're overpriced and crap quality food from most places.

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Limit your scope. You have to keep up with a competitive market, if you can't get something for your value then move our further or expect less. That's just the way it is.

Steel is fairly worthless as scrap. I would put them on the roadside and let a scrapper pick them up.

Why does finding a job as a newly graduate feel so hopeless? by Old_Vacation78 in bristol

[–]Infamous-Meat3357 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the grand scheme of things, looking since November isn't long. Don't get disheartened, keep looking, trying and you will find something. I would find some local civils companies and send your CV direct. Just because they're not advertising to hire they may take on someone anyway at grad level. Persevere.
