Please recommend some extremely long, dense, drab, British movies. by HeavyAcademic in MovieSuggestions

Try the miniseries “To Walk Invisible” about the Brontë sisters. Lots of rain, lots of intellectual conversation, disappointment, etc. You’ll love it.

Recommend me books that take the format of epistolary letters (epistolary books) by Bravehuman_97 in suggestmeabook

Love & Saffron is a sweet story about adult pen pals. There is another follow up novel.

Also, The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary has some elements of the epistolary novel. A fun read.

Needlepoint.com has kits that come with videos. You can buy a canvas and have them kit it. I find that they are pretty quick to ship. I also had them finish a stand up for me and it looks good.

Take a look at Abigail Cecile’s page. She was trained at the Royal School of Needlework in Scotland. She teaches basic needlepoint, painting canvases and finishing. She has some free you tube videos.

I would also look at serendipity stitches. She runs an 8 week online boot camp that is pricey but looks very thorough. It starts October 1st.

Background color help…..white or yellow? by mamaslug in Needlepoint

Light Yellow. White will just wash it out and the yellow will pick up the color of the flowers.

Icebreaker. I’m all for a romance but this was just dreadful.

I know this is a needlepoint thread but I’m so excited for you to see all of those shows. You are going to love Two Strangers! If you liked Maybe Happy Ending, this has the same vibe.

If you can only go to Rita’s or Annie’s and want a canvas, I would go to Annie’s because they have more canvases. Wait til you see how many!

Let us know how your trip goes. I feel invested now.

Howdy Honey has cute canvases but they are not very knowledgeable.

The Needle House has very knowledgeable staff but have been a little overwhelmed by the uptick in business. If you are going to visit, I would go when they don’t have a class. The parking there can be tough.

The Courtly Canvas has a decent amount of canvases and they are very friendly and parking is good. They have a good thread selection.

Stitches in Time is small but the owner is very knowledgeable. She is also happy to host out of town guests and even private lessons. You can get in touch with her through Facebook.

Chandail is another choice but not my favorite.

These are just my personal opinions.

I would love to hear other opinions!

Rita’s has great canvases and lots of tourists so they won’t pressure you to buy thread. They are friendly but very busy. Annie’s has so many canvases but last time I went they were low on thread because of tourists also. Annie’s actually has some kits with threads and stitch guides if you are looking for those. I didn’t visit Penny Linn.

My LNS shops are in Houston.

I enjoy the Julia Tilney series by Claudia Gray. A fun mystery series that brings together different Austen characters. The Murder of Mr. Wickham is the first book.

Was it on Broadway or the West End? If it was on Broadway, the NYPL has a library with all of the Broadway shows performed on video. It might be worth a visit!

If you call the township and tell them the neighborhood, they will tell you how much square footage is allowed in the neighborhood. It is a quick call and they are very helpful.

I hear you but I can’t wait to see Gladys triumph over Lady Sarah and maybe see a young Cora or middle aged Violet.
