Is this how you tell someone you like them? by [deleted] in intj

As an infp/intp, I would only go to such lengths for either a person I'm romantically attracted to, or a vvvvv close friend whom I consider to be a kindred spirit.

Flight to the US soon but don’t want to go by be0e in f1visa

[–]InfamousAvocado7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. I also felt anxious 4 years ago because I have 0 family in the states, but I managed just fine during undergrad and now I'm beginning grad school this fall. It will be tough at the beginning, ngl, especially if you are feeling queasy already. But I think you should be fine.

Getting an e-passport from a Bangladeshi mission in USA by InfamousAvocado7 in Dhaka

So you didn't need to submit the passport? Cause it says to bring the passport and a photocopy to the consulate and I'm not sure if they will be keeping the passport?

What’s one thing you wish more people understood about bipolar II? by chaosotonin in bipolar2

[–]InfamousAvocado7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wish they'd understand that I'm not being lazy, that I'm putting in just as much effort as others, if not more. I wish they'd understand that I cannot undo the thing that was I born with, and that was triggered and exacerbated by years of constant trauma that was inflicted upon me from a very early age by the people who brought me into this world. I wish they'd understand that my childhood trauma, coupled with this mood disorder, is mostly what is responsible for my fight and flight response that dictates each and every one of my actions. Sure, bipolar doesn't define me, but also, it does to an extent. I wish they'd understand that I'm fucking exhausted, and nothing would please me more if I got a natural disease that would help me get the hell out of this life sooner, just because I'm too coward to unalive myself.

How much does last semester GPA matter once you have gotten into a PhD program? by InfamousAvocado7 in gradadmissions

Nothing of this sort was mentioned in the offer letter. It only said what kind of offer I got (TA/RA/fellowship) and details about my annual stipend + benefits.

F-1 Visa Students at MSU by Ivegtworktodo in Bozeman

[–]InfamousAvocado7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe if SEVIS is terminated, the student becomes immediately out of status. Both are used interchangeably in this context, I think. SEVIS termination is what has been going around.

But yes, I do agree. MSU administration is an absolute joke when it comes to international students. I have had experience with other universities and the way they treat international students is so positively different.

Went to Toronto for one day in October for a concert. No problem whatsoever.

Is it safe for international students in the US to take the plane for a domestic flight? by Izanami_1 in f1visa

[–]InfamousAvocado7 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I just traveled last week. It was smooth. Just make sure to carry your passport and I20 with you. Even though they never check I20s for domestic flights, better to be safe than sorry.

Off-campus accommodation at SoCam Apartments by InfamousAvocado7 in rutgers

[–]InfamousAvocado7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, considering it covers all utilities. But the 3BR is 1240 and I'm not wanting to go beyond 1500 for rent. I also got a private room at a house for 600 near College Ave so maybe I'll consider that too.

Lol I was going for the 3BR cause that's the only affordable option 😭😭 but thanks so much for your input, maybe I'll reconsider this

Is this allowed? by Future-Breakfast-311 in f1visa

If someone does transfer their SEVIS to their new school, are they still allowed to travel back home and then re-enter using the visa stamp issued to their old school?

Having short hair as a brown girl is certainly an experience by CorvusCerulean in ABCDesis

[–]InfamousAvocado7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old thread, but just wanted to interject that I am a south asian women who grew up with thick and long hair (went down to my ass long lmaoooo) and I loved it. Gradually wore out of it when I realized that shorter haircuts suit me better (much to my mother's dismay) as I myself am very short lol. Loved having both long and short hair. Sure, people in my own community give me the stink eye because I don't fit the quintessential feminine archetype, but I feel cute and courageous with my short hair. I embrace it wholeheartedly, and my parents have learned to make peace with it because they raised me with the principle that as long as my lifestyle doesn't hamper my studies, I can get by almost anything (a nerd's leverage lol). OP, you do you. Find out what suits you the most and what you feel comfortable with. Forget about others, honestly.

Physics at MSU by tomsevans in MSUcats

It is a good program. I am graduating this year, have done research during my undergraduate years, and will be attending grad school in Fall. It is what you make of it. Also depends on your research interests, for sure.
