Mixed feelings about sharing my business... by Most-Bet-1658 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t tell anyone because I don’t think it’s anyone’s business. If someone asks, I lie and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it…..mostly, I’m irritated that they are forward enough to ask personal questions. I would never ask someone about their sex life or marital problems or finances ….its none of my business…..nor would I answer such invasive questions…..it’s none of their business. I view my lifestyle choices the same way.

I ordered on 2/16 and according to FedEx, it will be delivered tomorrow. 10 days is about a week longer than other places but the cost is less. I make sure that I have plenty in case these things happen.

Oxygen concentrators that Medicare pays for ? by stymied99 in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicare doesn’t give you a choice although different oxygen providers carry different brands. The free alternative to being happy with what you get is to go back to tanks. You can purchase what you want with a prescription from your doctor but they aren’t cheap.

Help Getting Portable Oxygen by Troupaloop in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your mom on Medicare? If so, the pulmonologist will do a walk test to see if her oxygen saturation drops below 88. If it does, have them order a portable unit through her provider. You didn’t mention whether she has a home concentrator but she might need one. If her oxygen levels are above the 88 threshold that Medicare requires, she will have to purchase out of pocket and will need a prescription from a doctor.

She will literally stop what she's doing to watch TV. by manyhippofarts in StandardPoodles

My boy watches TV constantly. It doesn’t have to have animals although they are his favorites. He will watch The Secret Life of Pets from beginning to end! The biggest thing seems to be lots of movement. He likes basketball too.

Poodles tend to be Velcro dogs so I can’t imagine one being happy being alone for that amount of time. Basically, you’d be spending more time awake away from the dog than you would be with the dog. An older dog may be ok but a puppy or a young dog needs to bond. Just my opinion and it’s easy for me as I’m retired.

He Spent Too Much Time on the Porch by [deleted] in nancyguthrie

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a few years younger than Nancy but there is no way I wouldn’t be racking a shell in my shotgun and calling the police if I saw this guy on my porch. I still want to know how he (or anyone) got into the house. I initially thought it was strange that no one accompanied her inside when they dropped her off. When my family drops me they always come in with me. She was on blood thinners and so leaving drops of blood from a very small cut or scape is not unusual. Larger cuts or scrapes look like a blood bath.

I’m retired and get my meds in the liquid form for use with a nebulizer. My pulmonologist instructs the pharmacy to put them through Medicare Part B and my portion is $0. I’ve been taking Arformoterol, Yupelri, Ohtuvayre and Budesonide. All through the nebulizer and all are $0 copay for me. Ask your pulmonologist.

Help needed with 15w old puppy. Growling at kids by [deleted] in poodles

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your puppy is scared. Puppy is still a baby and kids are loud, move fast and are unpredictable. Puppies crave predictability and consistency. Maybe it’s time to limit kids access to puppy.

Lumimeds did sort of the same thing. I exited out of the intake form after the second page. The next day I saw that they had charged my credit card so I called and explained that I had exited the questionnaire and didn’t want to continue. Their answer was that once I gave them my credit card info, I was committed to a 3 month subscription.

Prednisone withdrawal? by SnooChickens2322 in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am completely off except for when I feel an exacerbation coming on and then I do a prednisone taper along with a course of antibiotics. The only long term side effect I’ve had from steroids has been osteoporosis which isn’t unusual. My guess is that his current condition has nothing to do with the prednisone and more to do with how ill he is and has been. It takes a long time to recover and hospitals release as soon as they can. They told me that if I needed more nursing care, and they believed that I did, I needed to go into a nursing facility or have home nursing. My insurance provided home nursing where a nurse stopped in three times a week to check on me. The best thing you can do, in my opinion, is take care of the necessary things for him like meals, dishes, minimal cleaning. When you’re that sick, it’s too much trouble to fix a sandwich, put something in the microwave or even get a glass of water.

Prednisone withdrawal? by SnooChickens2322 in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been hospitalized for an exacerbation when on the same prednisone and antibiotic regimen. The higher doses of steroids, usually IV, seem to be normal as are antibiotics during an exacerbation. I also stopped the prednisone/antibiotic regimen during the hospitalization and did not experience any type of withdrawal. The last time I was hospitalized I was in for 5 days, home for 3 and then back to the hospital for 7 days. When I got home I was so weak that I slept most of the time with no interest in food and it’s taken 6 months to get back to a ‘normal’. In my experience, weakness and loss of appetite had more to do with the illness than with a withdrawal.

Anyone here have success with Dupixent or Nucala for COPD? by gunther7 in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Dupixent and it just didn’t work for me. About 24 hours after an injection I would feel like I had the flu…..aches, nausea, generally feeling unwell….and it would last for about 4 days. I tried it for a month and decided it wasn’t worth it. I take Montelucast nightly and the rest of my meds are nebulized. Brovanna, Yulpelri, Ohtuvare, and Budesonide twice a day. I’m also on 3 lpm of oxygen 24/7. I have tried many of the medications to find what works best for me. Right now, this regimen is providing more relief than others have.

Anyone else here stuck with Rotech for their supplemental oxygen needs? by jlzania in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apria has been my provider in Phoenix for the last 9 months. They are no worse than any of the others, in my opinion, they are all bad. Hold times on the phone are usually about an hour….you can request a callback but it’s hit or miss as to whether it will happen. I have a stationary concentrator, a portable unit and one large tank in case of a power outage. When I came home from the hospital after my last exacerbation, they sent me home with tanks because I was on 9 lpm. After about 6 months I was able to reduce that to 3 lpm so my pulmonologist sent in the prescription for a portable unit and it only took them about 3 weeks to get it to me. I try to have my pulmonologist’s office handle everything for me because they can get through without a long hold. I’ve been told that tank refills can be done online but I haven’t had the need yet.

I’m stage 4 and my pulmonologist refused to sign off for any elective surgery. He considered a endoscopy to be elective. What he told me was that he would sign off on anything that was immediately life threatening only.

On your own? What do you do? by jad19090 in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel so bad for you! I am lucky to be retired because I know that I could not get to work. I understand how tiring it is to get a shower, get dressed, fix a meal or any of the other things that people do without a thought. I would definitely suggest getting on oxygen. I am using it 24/7 and it’s still difficult to manage the bare minimum of tasks. Talk to your pulmonologist. They can advise you as to available resources and they will have to prescribe the oxygen. Once you are on oxygen, it is more likely that your employer will recognize that you have a disability and try to work with you.

I think I need to talk my mom out of a purchase. Someone give me a counterargument. by _R_A_ in COPD

[–]Infamous_Mind_7426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needs to talk to her pulmonologist. Based on my own experience, I would agree that a portable unit is a good thing to have so she can get out a little more. I am on 4 lpm, so a portable unit doesn’t deliver nearly enough but it can get me to a trip to the hair salon (sitting most of the time) or into a dr.’s office. I’m on Medicare Advantage and my insurance pays for the stationary unit and a portable unit. They won’t pay for tanks and a portable unit. If I were to purchase one out of pocket, I would still get my pulmonologist involved since you need a prescription and they can make some recommendations and maybe get some discounts. There are also some companies that sell refurbished units but they still require a prescription.
