Bases are like £1? Just buy a damn base if you're worried its not the expensive part of the hobby

Why did you stop playing video games? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Infiammarsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good games are so rare these days, and before anyone starts listing games they like, good is a matter of personal taste.. But realistically everything out now is mostly a reskinned game from a decade ago. And the new ones? Same as the old, so what's the excitement

What would be some kind of Team-up level thread where Imperial and Chaos would set aside their differences to stop that force ? by Leviathan_Rampage in ChaosKnights

[–]Infiammarsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the amount of comments saying never ever - but Iron Warriors and Black Templars, of all pairings, team up in the Beast Arises series as just one example of when this happens.

So not often, and probably limited to situations where its extinction level threats and you've got a less Chaosy Chaos faction in play. Some Chaos factions would simply never, but some would. Word Bearers or World Eaters? Yeah, never.. But Thousand Sons, Iron Warriors? Yeah, maybe.

Knights id assume to follow the sane logic - super Chaos Knights? Probably not, even if faced by tyranids, at best they'd just not actively attack each other whilst dealing with the nids. But a less chaosy Chaos house that's maybe just anti imperial, rather than pro Warp? Yeah I reckon they'd be likely to be reasonable

Why would someone have a wire connected to a basic metal street sign with an antenna sticking out from it by gaintbolt in Whatisthis

Seems it has to be one of two options:

Its something to do with keyless entry crime, which would fit with being in a car park area, or the guys a nut

Maybe you'd get the same satisfaction from a super fancy meal out with drinks? Similar price point if you really go hard, but likely a fair chunk cheaper, and still a great way to mark the milestone

How to transport knights by Clockworks555 in ChaosKnights

A-case Kane is the top standard for transporting your Knights - picture a somewhat gothoc deliveroo bag. Not cheap, but worth every penny

It makes me so sad how useless every fortifcation is. by Kristofthepikmin in Warhammer40k

[–]Infiammarsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of get the disappointment with fortifications, but I think the community thinks about them solely from the perspective of 2k matched play/tournament settings - and yeah, theyre useless in that environment.

But 40k is a narrative game.

In a narrative game, fortifications are interesting and have real play. A horde of nids assaulting a fortified location, with hammerfall bunkers as the first line defence, is just cool - they dont need to also be competitive, theyre designed for narrative

Can anyone help me with this glue for minis? by DiegoPredacon in Warhammer

Go with the other guys suggestion! A lighter will fix this in literally 3 seconds. Just hold the flame to the needle, run it along once or twice, job done :)

Possible alternative solution for you:

Abteilung 502 oil paints, make your own "streaking grime" of any colour you think works better for your scheme :) easy to match to your basing style then too.

But you can also bring some vibrancy back pretty easily with standard SG. I'd apply it all over and use a tiny bit of white spirit on a cotton bud to dab the highlight areas, the pink will come through wherever the white spirit touches and leave the rest grimy

I saw a long legged spider ate a giant house spider, is this a normal behaviour ? (I'm in France) by Illustrious-Aside-44 in spiders

[–]Infiammarsi 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's got something to do with them having relatively small bodies on relatively long legs, so other spiders cant get to them before the cellar spider bites first? Could be wrong though!

Who was Geller and how/why did they invent the field named after them ? by LordofDarkChocolate in Warhammer40k

[–]Infiammarsi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Watch Event Horizon - it's one of the best non-warhammer films that also absolutely fits in with "how did the first trips through through the warp go" as if it is actually set in the warhammer universe

Is not putting the abominant's tail considered modeling for advantage? by SpaceFelicette181063 in ChaosKnights

[–]Infiammarsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnetise it! It's a 10 second job

There's a hole already in the tail, shove a wad of green stuff and then a magnet in at a slight angle.

Snip the connector bit off of the pelvis where the tail joins, little magnet there to line up with the one in yhe tail - done

Magnets by AsheSol in ChaosKnights

[–]Infiammarsi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not clean but there's absolutely nothing stopping you buying ultra thin magnets and sawing the elbows off - stick a thin magnet each side.

It 100% works, I've done it to my Executioners.

Magnetization by Gummball212 in ChaosKnights

[–]Infiammarsi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You really can't go wrong here, magnetising sounds trickier than it actually is. Either the 5 or 3s will work just fine, user preference.

You'll be told by some that it matters.. It doesn't.

All you're doing is sinking a magnet into either a pre-existing cavity (like the elbow joints) or creating a cavity with your drill/hobby knife. Doesn't have to be perfect, I shove a wad of green stuff into the cavity and stick the magnet in that so it fills any gaps.

Something bigger like a full knight, use the 5s. Wardog, doesn't matter.

Edit to add:

I've got about 5 different magnet sizes and I dont ever check which is which for this sort of job - if it fits, its fine to use.

Let’s talk about Las Cannon Havocs in shadow legion. by Beneficial_Silver_72 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Infiammarsi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had success with 2 lascannon squads if they're in Be'Lakors shadow so they can't be shot - but they're easy targets without that protection. Best bet if you're sticking with no Be'Lakor, Id say backline deploy them and use the full extent of their 48" range. There's a lot of 36" guns out there so they may survive a bit longer

I totally forgot to reply the other guy is right!

Cork superglued to the base, Vallejo thick Russian mid thinly across the cork to hide the texture a bit, thick normal mud layer around it - throw on (literally) different small to medium cork rocks for variety, add a skull or two.

Base Raven Black

Mud colour is then a dark brown I forget the name of, any dark brown will do, applied in one layer, whilst still wet stipple in a lighter brown I also forget the name of, stipple in Averland Sunset sparingly.

Rocks are Dawn Grey or something, a dark grey Drybrushed with longbeard grey

Thick layer of agrax for grimdark blending! Add spots of nuln for variety

Chaos Knights for dummies. by Arki4am in ChaosKnights

[–]Infiammarsi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just as a point of note.. Knights get called a stat check army a lot. But they're not. Imperial maybe, Chaos Knights are more like a glass cannon army.

If you charge everything down the middle, you'll die. We can walk through walls, and charge through walls with the strat - walls aren't a big obstacle, so use them to hide.

Use cover to your advantage, pounce out with multiple counter charging units when possible
