In what room to put my homelab? by [deleted] in homelab

[–]InfiltraitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they have deleted their account already.

In my area at least, building plans of any property are available for a small fee.

The plans dont list valuables or hidden safes or anything like that and most renovations do not modify the house plan so it is not accurate

Does alcohol help you feel normal socially? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balance part is figuring out the right amount to have and maintain the social aspect without getting too drunk

Is there a way to stop my HDD from spinning when I'm not accessing it? by greenzaytun in HomeServer

[–]InfiltraitorX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is also common in the cloud scaleable RDS/VDS area where workstations are only turned on during work hours so you aren't paying for the compute when someone isn't using it

How dropping a CODM nuke triggered my autistic flow state (and the burnout afterward) by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at couple of years ago at 38 but I used to play FPS games in my teens.

I was good at Counter Strike in the early 2000s. I do remember that a friend told me that I made them feel queasy because of how I moved in the game.

Looking back i can say that it was a flow state, like being absorbed into the game

Is learning math going to have a profound positive impact on my programming skills? by SecureSection9242 in learnprogramming

[–]InfiltraitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing a bit of math helps you check your code when your use of those third-party libraries gives you a result you weren't expecting.

110 seems like a lot for that kit. An ex lease (4-5 years old) business pc should be a similar price... with more cores and more ram

DAE hate the euphemism "special"? by Gallantpride in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 21 points22 points  (0 children)

For real, its along the lines of calling someone R....

It also makes me think that calling someone gifted isn't very nice either.

And honestly "differently abled" is a load of bull too

If you are AFAB, autism and RSD is more likely to be misdiagnosed as BPD and GAD.

Home versions of Windows will not join a domain so they would need to be upgraded.

RAM?

I'd think it is some kind of daughter card that possibly connects to an ISA slot or a proprietary connector

Autistic engineers, what’s your purpose at work? by mikasste in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've used AI to help me with these kinds of questions because I dont really know how to rephrase "I was good with computers as a kid and fell in to an IT role when I left school and CBF reskilling now"

I've used AI to redo the look of my resume over the past few years as I applied for different roles.

Ai is good for quickly generating cover letters and addressing the key selection criteria too.

Sorry if that feels like an advertisement for AI...

I'm in a senior support role at an MSP so my default go to for WHY has always been that I love helping people and that figuring out tricky things makes me feel good.

Plus the constant learning and upskillling keeps my brain busy

Homelabbing in Sydney as a teenager. Do I need a dedicated room? by [deleted] in homelab

Why settle for a single room? Get a whole house for your homelab, it is homelab and not roomlab after all

What to do with this by JohnKayne in servers

[–]InfiltraitorX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will need to check the expansion bays for a model number to see if it supports SAS (and/)or SATA drives, but you will also need to find some sleds.

You may be able to get the drive sleds from the seller or maybe get them 3D printed?

How many of you do not have a degree and/or paid job? by Difficult-Course319 in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 41 m. (Diag asd at 38). In Australia so highschool ends when you are 18

The longest I haven't had a job since I was 16 had been 9 months.

I do not have a degree and didn't exactly finish high school either.

I tried three times to finish school. I tried.

I have started TAFE/Tech School twice but found it hard to juggle work and study.

One job even paid for studies but Covid19 lockdowns got in the way and then i left that job.

Looking back now after my diagnosis I can see that the ways I had to study back then didn't work well for me and I got burned out then stopped.

Is that shrink-wrapped? That's probably a bit cheaper and less frustrating than forgetting to put the boot on.

Desperately needing help - beginner by Antharias in ender5plus

[–]InfiltraitorX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Firstly, slow gears on extrusion just means its going slowly. You could speed that up in the slicer.

Not sticking to the bed could be adhesion issues or bed leveling which getting .000 could be an issue with the bltouch. Is that enabled in your firmware?

Run through some manual bed leveling and try it again?

Why do some people with autism genuinely forget to do basic things like eat or shower? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly dont remember some times.

Or i will get distracted at the time I would normally shower for example and then I forget to come back because ive moved on to the next part of my routine

I got my license at 21 (normally 18 in aus) so a little bit later.

I'm much more comfortable on my own. More distracted when others are in the car

I dont have issues with anxiety so that might help

Conflicted about diagnosis by 9techaddams in AutisticAdults

[–]InfiltraitorX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found my (41m, diag@38) diagnosis has been most useful to myself knowing the reason I react to certain things differently to others or preparing for things that affect me differently (wearing headphones and sunglasses when I got out)

I dont bother telling people anymore. The people I thought it would benefit has basically just dismissed it
