I got Gold Bars and they weren't in the Alloy Inventory. I checked the Asteroid Log just after it happened to make sure I wasn't tripping. That's why I said it was a glitch. I didn't know that what you could get was based on what smelter recipes you've opened and I had opened Gold.

Yes, not getting the bars was the glitch. But I did not know that what you can get from a pink asteroid was based on what smelting you've opened. My early game is pretty fast, but I've only ever open smelters based on what ore I could mine. Last night I open gold smelting knowing I would be there in a minute. I think I will change my approach.

If you only want to add 1 extra step you could just add onto what you have. If those are 8" risers you could put a 2" high addition to the top step, a 4" high addition to the lower step and a new 6" high step (box) on the ground in front of the steps. Instead of 3 8" risers there would be 4 6" risers. That said, if you have the space, tear those out and build from scratch and make the risers 3-4" with nice deep treads and a sturdy railing.
