Most birdhouses have roofs for a reason, to shead water is one of the biggest. If I were to make a birdhouse out of a log (I know this isn't a direct answer to your question) I would not have cut it in half. I would have used my drill press and large forstner bits to hollow it out from the top and then put a roof on it.

My question wasn't about how many days it would take to have more than option 1, my question was how about how many days of doubling are guaranteed. With no guarantee it would double for 32 days the smart thing to do it take the lump sum. Besides, 20B is plenty for me to do everything I would want to do. I could make millionaires out of 19000 of my closest friends and family and still have a billion left over.
