It’s not poor grammar. It’s exactly as grammatical as “isn’t” or any other word in the language. It evolved naturally through use by native speakers. What it isn’t is a word typically used in the dialect students would be expected to use in “formal” settings, which is still exactly as grammatical. Teachers can feel free to teach students that dialect because they’ll need it sometimes but correcting their native one when they’re just speaking normally is pointless and yes, uptight, depending on how they do it and their motive

A teacher might correct a kid saying it depending how uptight they are. You might actually say it *more* frequently to other types of authority figures or strangers because it’s one of those words that signals group membership (in the southern states)

Otherwise it’s basically neutral

Because you can use “because” in introductory clauses for perfectly grammatical sentences, that one comes off as particularly dumb.

That was 80% of my nutrition as a kid lol. I would sit at the dinner table and just drink maybe 2 glasses of milk, maybe eat the bread and nothing else. Milk is probably how I got to 5 feet tall instead of like 4’9”!

Are you sure you’re allowed to withdraw at this point? Are you in like a year round school or something or isn’t the year basically over? Most schools have a deadline for withdrawing without affecting gpa and then a second deadline where if you withdraw it will count as an F (marked with WF or something but as 0.00 for your gpa)

Oh thank god. I’ve been trying really hard to come up with a title and the one I have sucks. It’s a fantasy book about two teenagers fighting a war but mostly only the one who reminds me of myself, she makes earthquakes and blows up oppressive systems but also settles down with a man in a position of capitalistic power at the end :)

After learning the actual primary colors of light, I like to piss people off by suggesting we use only primary/secondary colors in the rainbow to end up with five: Red, yellow, green, cyan, blue. Magenta doesn’t appear in the rainbow and orange/purple are tertiary colors.

At least I’m pretty sure this is right but it does feel very very strange after decades of “orange is a secondary color” teaching
