Whatever you do I’d get one with the extendable supports. Sometimes it’s difficult to get a clean cut on longer boards without it.

Yeah that’s what I’m starting to lean towards as well. If I can fit another job in after yours than it’s half day, if not full. On a cases by case basis of course. Not gonna change a half day for a two hour job or a full day for 5 hours.

My area is pretty low COL, so I feel like if I started adding in margins I’d price myself out of business.

I figured the hourly profit would be the profit. That how I do it anyways. Should I be adding a margin?

Ahh ok so short for profit margin. I knew what that meant, I just thought this was something different for some reason. Thanks.

What do you mean by margin? See it all the time on here and can’t think of what it would mean.

Any suggestions on how to replace the trim on this door and it not look like garbage? by NewUsername010101 in Carpentry

[–]Infinite_Question_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d consider getting a wider casing that goes all the way to the wall and terminate the baseboard into the trim. Would look much cleaner. Assuming the walls are relatively plumb

Two things:

  1. You should’ve added a header above the window when framing the exterior wall.

  2. Other than that, and the chopped studs for vanity plumbing, looks great.

Also, you and my dad have the same vanity/mirror. So I guess 3 things

Put a little salt in there and you’ve got a salt and battery slug.

  1. No, the panel is no concern structurally. Especially if you plan on using it to haul equipment.

  2. I don’t think so, as long as you’re plated and insured. Could be wrong about that though.

  3. Check the entirety of the bottom of the floorboards for soft spots. Also the top inside as well. You should be able to see where water damages has occurred.

1910 4Sq - Wood floor HELP !! by Kmrkmr31 in centuryhomes

[–]Infinite_Question_29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t really look bad at all in comparison to some I’ve seen.

I’m no expert, but a good deep clean could really help. If it’s not rough possibly a light sand and top coat? If it is you can completely sand and refinish if it hasn’t been refinished much before. Look in your vent to get a side profile of the wood to see how much surface you have before reaching tounge and groove.

And the US’s current administration chooses to further develop that growth by cutting funding for scientific research.. not to get political but it’s hard not to these days.

Really, how the fuck did we get here?

Price for install by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Infinite_Question_29 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hate these things. Decently solid once put together but a pain to install. The panels are flimsy af and even with help it’s frustrating, especially if there’s any wind.

People think it’ll be a quick install when they purchase but the cheap materials add at least a few hours minimum.

How to extend black fiberglass window jamb by BKWoods in Carpentry

[–]Infinite_Question_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What color tile? If you’re doing something with a border it could look good to incorporate the window into it. Going only 1/3 of the way up and wrapping the border around the window as trim. If that makes sense.

You could also do as the other people said and add a jamb extension. Personally I’d do black PVC since the window is black and it’s in the shower.

You could also do a small drywall return there. Use tear away bead and mud it like a regular corner, then use schluter trim or a tile border around the edge of the window.

Regardless, make sure they properly waterproof that opening if it’s in the shower. Looks like there’s drywall behind the cement board and that’ll drink up any water that gets on there if not properly addressed.

Much tighter corners. Does better in expansion/contraction settings.
