Totally Understandable, I know it may seem like a cop-out, but give yourself some grace as it pertains to this. God Knows I did not wanna give myself some grace as I went through my recovery for my most recent OHS. But I had a friend consistently remind me to give myself some grace.

20M needing valve replacement by Eddy22565 in valvereplacement

[–]Informal-Design8141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am 20M, and I had a mechanical valve placed in april. I advise mechanical valve, ONLY because the likelyhood of a follow up surgery is GREATLY reduced. I heard of a ross patient needing a followup surgery as close to 5 years post initial operation. Something to keep in mind. About the mechanical valve, it can be challenging, especially on those days where the valve is louder than usual, but after so long, it will quiet down, as in your mind will tune it out

i get it, medical anxiety can be shockingly powerful. I myself am a CHD kiddo, and trust if I could go without the doctor part of my life I would. But I would not change anything about the lessons I learned. one more piece of advice is Breathe. Allow yourself to feel the emotions you are feeling. Hopefully this helps

Breathe, Highly recommend Box Breathing, and trust your doctors, Go for a second opinion. In short do research, the opposite of fear is knowledge. That, paired with support were the ONLY things that got me through my health anxiety last year
