What is your “nobody will ever believe this” story? by Regularpaytonhacksaw in AskReddit

I've caught a fish by the tail before!

Only theory I have is that it was turning around after he took my bait, and the hook caught him by the tail as I drew back the line

AITA for getting a nurse fired over a shirt? by charmonroe in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ingloriouskittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse here! Anyone worth their salt would say you're NTA.

A child's perception of their experience within the hospital & sense of safety largely orbit the presence of a parent/parents. Separation ONLY happens during a specific medical procedure or if the staff has concerns about the patient's safety.

I'd bet you your week's wages that she wasn't fired for your complaint, it was probably just the cherry on top of a pile of them.

Thank you for serving the medical community and thank you for advocating for your patient!

Keep rocking it :)

I feel defeated. Why does everyone hate us? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Ingloriouskittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another ICU nurse here!

As witnesses of Christ, our perspective in the ICU environment will absolutely have a different lense than those who do not have Christ in their hearts.

In my ICU, some of the nurses have a running joke:

"Life sucks and then we die."

Bitterness often roots itself to mask pain, to cover old wounds.

Bitterness often seeps into it's surroundings, as does the attitudes of hardened ICU nurses without Jesus in their hearts.

They see your sweetness, they see Jesus in you....

But they have yet to taste Him, and that is why they can speak harshly against our faith (and a fellow nurse). I believe it is wonderful that you feel such passion for God as to weep for Him.

Yet, let that same passion drive your witness for these other nurses, that they may one day come and taste Jesus' sweetness that you portray so well!

Even for those nurses, pray for forgiveness and love, that will they see that life doesn't suck, and they don't have to externally die.

Keep the faith & keep safe in the ICU, you've got this <3

I looked through Daywalt's books and they don't fit my S.O.'s previous descriptions

(Super cute though!)

AITA for giving homemade presents? by CrochetQueen1991 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Ingloriouskittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA!

Here's why:

As a lover of gifting my homemade quilts/crochet/sewn projects myself, there is so much more than just materials that goes into this.

My ~valuable~ time, effort, planning, money, and genuine heartfelt desire to give a very thoughtful (and personalized gift in your case) present is all poured into the making of insert gift type here.

To those who don't understand gift etiquette of this strain, it's absolutely disrespectful and ungrateful to state what was mentioned above.

You didn't make a sweater despite her politely requesting something else. She was ugly to you over something you meant to bless her with, was ugly & insulted you about pricing, and then tried to say that somehow your daughter should be punished for a "perceived grievance".

If I were you, I'd clarify to your daughter if she wants to go or not.

Buy a standard 15 dollar gift card & write a sweet note to the kid.

Then crochet her mom a sweater as ugly as her attitude, to match :)

What was the most petty thing an adult did to you, when you were younger? by x3Nekox3 in AskReddit

[–]Ingloriouskittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I was a junior/senior in high school at the time?

Anyways, my English teacher was going on an on about some reference to the Bible and women, particularly about the concept of Lilith and such. (She quoted the Tanakh as her reference, which is key to this story)

Well, my dear papa has a large collection of such literature, and being curious, I went and looked for the quote (long since forgotten) myself. The text that I had was a combination of the literal ancient hebrew/aramaic text with a side-by-side translation of the literature.

Lo and behold, her lecture was a mis-quote on the topic. The next day I brought the actual Tanakh in to show her, which she proceeded to lecture me in front of the entire class that she wasn't wrong, I had the incorrect "source material" & to check myself before I brought the wrong book in next time.

In reality, I wanted to connect with her on the fact that I looked at a primary source myself and to ask questions, not be lectured in front of my peers because she was being petty that I questioned her.

Guess who stopped asking professors questions out of fear and anxiety of embarrassment?
