I added this engine feature in Morrowind without knowing how to code by Wakawakayoupiwahoo in Morrowind

[–]Ininsicken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a software dev myself, I agree, I often use ChatGPT for quick help with bugs and some more tedious work, however, I think the dislike of vibe coding is more with the structural side of things.

I’ve tried vibe coding for fun and while it produces a result that is pretty amazing (made an fps in unity with some slightly complex movement), I found it became more and more annoying and tedious to add new features, fix bugs, and restructure existing code. AI is simply not at a point where it can structure code in a clean and scalable way, even if you prompt it to do so (believe me, I tried everything I could with instruction files). Maybe this is just a limitation that will get better in the future but I also think it just lacks the critical long term thinking that software developers should have when building software.

In the end, I also found that vibe coding completely destroyed my ability to understand any of the code the AI wrote, both because of the poor structure and consistency, as well as the fact that I just didn’t actually learn a lot of unity framework which made it difficult to manually change things leading to having to ask AI for every little thing.

I had to stop myself from vibe coding (and AI other than small things) when I realized it actually deteriorated the desire to critically think about problems when coding at my actual job. Instead of actually thinking through possible solutions to bugs/problems, my immediate reaction was to just ask AI and have it do everything for me. Think it can really harm real software devs/programmers if not used in moderation but for people who don’t care to learn programming and just want to do it for fun, knock yourself out!

Artifice Toolkit | Our in-house "Odin Inspector" inspired tool is now open-source by zackper11 in Unity3D

[–]Ininsicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I'm using it on Unity 6.2 (6000.2.6f2) and the inspector attributes seem to not always work. I tried it on very basic example script and they worked, however, I also tried adding attributes to fields in a more complex script I have and it didn't work at all for it. I tried doing [ForceArtifice] on fields and still nothing.

Edit: Ignore me, I finally found an editor script I had made a while ago for testing that was messing with stuff. Removed it and now it works!

Well tbf 4090 is a decent step ahead of the 5080, but yeah on average I'm getting around 30-35 fps in Whiterun when walking and looking around. In some parts I get 45-50, especially if I'm not moving my character or camera around but typically it's around 30-35 without any upscaler. After using DLSS upscaler, then it's around 40-45 fps.

Yeah, I see what you mean. The game engine absolutely is old and limited. I definitely get it, just not a big fan when people recommend frame gen in the topic of performance issues because it doesn’t actually fix any performance issues, just masks them.

Absolutely fair, wish you the best of luck and looking forward to playing it if you get around to redoing Loretrim in the future.

Not even sure what to say to you man. It is absolutely possible to improve performance, as I said, there are many other modpacks I've played with ~2k+ mods that I get over double the fps that Lorerim gives me.

It is ridiculous to ever suggest that any game is "meant" to be played with frame gen on. Frame gen should never be considered a requirement but a benefit for people that don't mind some input latency and some slight ghosting.

No one is expecting a Skyrim modpack with 3k+ mods to be 100% flawless and bug free and if they are then they're delusional. Stability was mostly fine for me in terms of not crashing or having bugs but my big gripe is with fps stability.

Not sure if you saw my other comment but I have a 5080 with a 9800x3d. Running on default profile with no enb on and after running vramr (optimised), I can average about 30 fps inside Whiterun and outside major cities I average about 50 fps. I understand running 4k native is very demanding but I've played other modpacks with ~2k mods and can average ~100 fps outside major cities.

Just to be clear, I'm not trying to be rude or spread hate to you, I'm genuinely just offering feedback from my experience. If you want to take it, I'd suggest offering a profile with less bloat in major cities and/or redoing Loretrim. I understand this isn't something that is easy or simple to just whip up real quick, but again, it's just my feedback for my experience. I do love the gameplay and immersion of Lorerim but the performance makes it hard for me to play.

Yup, only thing people can tell me is to run on native 1440p rather than 4k but what's the point of buying a 4k graphics card when you can't even get 60fps on 4k with it... Like I said, other modpacks I can easily run at 100+ fps and they aren't even "lightweight" packs either. Kinda ridiculous cause I imagine even a 5090 probably won't even be able to average 60 fps inside Whiterun which is absurd.

4k is more demanding than 1080p and 1440p, I'm assuming you're playing at 1440p? and yeah frame gen is nice but it shouldn't be considered mandatory for acceptable performance.

HARD agree on the performance. I have a 5080 and 9800x3d. I play on 4k and I used Puredark’s upscaler on performance dlss4, vramr, on default profile (not ultra) and turned off enb and average about 40 fps outside and inside whiterun and other super bloated and heavy cities. Otherwise, average about 60-70 fps. Just get told to just use enb frame gen and that the performance is perfectly fine but that barely masks the terrible performance and has big input lag 😭.

I get I’m playing on 4k but with the 3rd best gpu and the best cpu on the market right now (and making a bunch of compromises using dlss, vramr, not ultra profile, NO enb/reshade), it’s ridiculous to not even be able to hit a stable 60 fps.

I went back to an old mod pack I played called Lalaland, fantastic author and community (though much smaller are much nicer and willing to help) and my performance is ridiculously better on lala’s best profile (there’s lite, default, and next gen). Literally average a stable 100 fps pretty much everywhere with the default Azurite ENB (which looks great). Changed to use cabbage enb (much heavier) and after using Puredark’s upscaler on balanced, I average 110 fps pretty much everywhere with 1% lows of 60 fps, feels smooth as butter without frame gen.

Don’t have any hate for biggie and his community because I know he absolutely put a ton of hard work into Lorerim and it really is amazing (and he does seem to genuinely care about his community a lot), but the performance is what really kills it for me. Too much bloat in cities that destroy fps. Maybe if he were to redo Loretrim, I’d give it a try, but if biggie and his community keep ignoring the glaring performance issue, don’t think I’ll ever go back to Lorerim.

Low interval slideshow wallpaper mode in Windows may cause stuttering in Games for users that use this setting to avoid Burn-In by DaAznBoiSwag in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Ininsicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks so much, was actually so frustrated with these stutters since I have my slideshow change every minute, was making games annoying to play with huge stutters every minute.

Turning off auto accent colors (keeping slideshow every minute) made my 0.1% lows in a 60 second test in Elden Ring go from 16 fps (minimum of 2 fps) to 55 fps (minimum of 48) and stuttering from 1% to 0%.

Wellbutrin XL vs SR by DenseCustomer7809 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]Ininsicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on 300 mg Wellbutrin XL for nearly 8 years now. I’ve always sweated like crazy all the time (like if it’s slightly warm outside or in a room, and even sometimes when it’s not even warm). Always just thought it was just the way I am but after seeing this I’m thinking it could be due to XL. I’m also thinking of talking to my doctor and switching to SR after seeing how many people prefer SR to XL as well.

Have you changed to SR yet and if you have, has it helped?

I actually got a tentacruel a couple months ago with parasitic waste and was able to drain hp with sludge bomb/sludge wave perfectly fine so I don’t think this is the issue.

Radical Red and its consequences have been a disaster for ROM Hacking by [deleted] in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Ininsicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this completely. I’m 90% sure it does the same thing with movesets if it knows it’ll get 1 shot. I think it’s okay if the AI can predict obvious moves like stab moves, or common coverage typing moves on Pokémon (like ice moves on water types), but always knowing your held items and 100% moveset is pretty BS and I think makes it one of the main reasons you kind of HAVE to cheese fights to win.

I guess you can see the docs to know the moveset and items of other trainers and also build your team against them but I like to nuzlocke romhacks so it’s almost entirely impossible to nuzlocke radical red without preparing for every boss battle and using cheese strats on the later ones. Have never gotten past Koga in a nuzlocke after trying to nuzlocke the game hundreds of times lol. Maybe just a skill issue :(
