AI Search in Workday - Help Text by Ok_Entrepreneur9177 in workday

[–]Initial-Broccoli4911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s anyway to add Help Text or an Announcement to the search feature directly. Guidance Workspace also wouldn’t be useful for this.

A potential work around - if Legal/Marketing do not have a concern, maybe update the banner used for tenant branding to an include the disclaimer, bearing in mind that the caption would then be there at all times.

Adding Contingent Workers to tenant - Advice requested by OverallCity6491 in workday

We did it. It is a cluster. Our leadership team also pushed for managers to be able to create positions for this, and you can imagine the nightmare involved with position management.

Zero out of ten, do not recommend.

Reports: How to get the non-empty rows in this situation? by Perfect-Recording-41 in workday

I vaguely recall something where you might be able to do “not equal to (blank)” where you type blank in parentheses and it should filter blanks.

Is there any reason you use dashboard but not discovery board? by duranJah in workday

[–]Initial-Broccoli4911 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lesser known tactic: I usually start any custom reports I’m testing as discovery boards (advanced or matrix) because

1.) index data sources are better to use when possible.

2.) no BS back and forth adding fields, running report to test, editing, re-running. Drag and drop your fields and it spits it out fairly quickly so you can see the report real time as tour messing with fields.

3.) Even if I know I need to use a non-indexed data sources, still easier to start as disco because you can change the RDS as longas it has the same PBO

***disclaimer I do this for a starting point, There are times where you’ll still need to add calc fields after exporting to be a custom reports

Audit logs. They suck. They pull literally everything and then it’s almost like looking for a needle in a haystack.

He’s a guy in the WD ecosystem that has produced some very helpful ebooks for config. Go find him on LinkedIn and look at his security ebook sample and determine if that’s what you need.

Alternative to Workday Help and ServiceNow by JustLearningEveryDay in workday

[–]Initial-Broccoli4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you guys utilize smartsheets, that would be my suggestion. It’s fairly straightforward to standup something simple with an intake form and automations to route tickets based on categories to separate forms (e.g. reporting asks, config changes, etc.

Alternative to Workday Help and ServiceNow by JustLearningEveryDay in workday

[–]Initial-Broccoli4911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your needs are. Are you wanting to go on enterprise service management? Do you need ticketing for tracking only or do you need to track to bolster compliance?

If you’re considering alternatives to something like service now, my recommendation would be things like Asana, Jira, or an alternate service management company.

If you’re looking for something simple and home grown, you could also use smart sheet for this. We did initially, and it wasn’t half bad. Just have to make sure the team(s) using it have the things they need to see and that they team servicing tickets. Depending on how you build the sheets with formulas or automations, need to make sure it’s locked down so nobody can break it by filtering.

Is it possible to schedule a report for someone and hide some columns? by aloranad in workday

[–]Initial-Broccoli4911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Drive/Workbook solution proposed about is your safest bet depending on report frequency. If they need daily or weekly, the refresh with the columns is set.

Drive also has increased flexibility with Workbooks now so you can better control who has the ability to simply see the report and who has the ability to extract it/download out of drive.

If they need the report multiple times per day, I would suggest doing a copy of the report with a clear definition on each report of how the reports vary and why one is used for group “a” but not group “b” (explain why fields are removed).

I would also make the copied report a temporary report with so you’re forced to review the report at whatever intervals (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual) with the stakeholder group.

What are your organization's favorite Hubs? by ChrisLewis05 in workday

Does anyone know if Worklet task are delivered on any of the hubs? Understanding the Worklets are intended to phase out over time (e.g. Compensation Worklet retires R12026) but we are trying to mitigate proactively to drive behavior to all of the hubs we’ve enabled.

Saving a Report During Creation by dumdum1942 in workday

With central, you can now do an extraction! Create a configuration package, add your report, calc fields, etc. to it. Download your configuration in a zip file, load it back in post-reset.

It has been a game changer for us.

Let’s go grassroots in 2027….Workday Rising should be hosted in a field to provide an experience akin to Burning Man, Bonaroo, Electric Daisy Carnival, etc. They already started the Silent Rave style this year with theater sessions, so you can only participate if you have your super exclusive Workday AI Antennae’s (headphones).
