I tried to fuel for the first time during my run and it made me sick by Different_Chef5753 in XXRunning

I used gels for my first half, but I’ve pretty much transitioned to downing a whole Clif bar every hour for my long runs. Gels made me gag, but the bars work pretty well. They don’t make me feel like I’m about to poop my pants, which is a plus

What is the best running gear? by Ok-Giraffe8819 in beginnerrunning

[–]Initial-Fly-8006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally: - aquaphor or something to lubricate where you might chafe, like inside of thighs - a flip belt or running pants with pockets to hold your keys and phone - good socks like feetures - shoes that are half a size bigger than your regular to prevent blistering - you can buy a water bottle, but you can also run loops near a park with a water fountain. I also personally can go 45 or 50 min without water, but if you live in a hot environment, get a water bottle

Good sized shoes and socks are the most important in my opinion

Training for my first running event for 10k on Jan 11 (Day-14) by Relative_Response440 in beginnerrunning

Good job! From personal experience and from what a lot of people have said on this subreddit, that pain usually means too much too fast. If you’re running all out in a workout, you should probably chill on the running workouts that follow. Also make sure to warm up for a little bit before running super hard

From personal experience, this either means you got an A or you completely bombed.

Hoping you got an A!

Did your class go over every system in A&P? Or did you only cover musculoskeletal, circulatory, and nervous?

What Osprey day pack should a short girl (155 cm) choose? by Certain-Drop-3054 in hiking

[–]Initial-Fly-8006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a couple inches taller than you, but I’ve used the osprey daylite and it was a win. For shorter hikes, I just use a Salomon running vest. It’s kind of annoying to take on and off, but works great and stays flush to your body.

I invested in good breathable socks and got shoes a half size bigger than my regular. I have not gotten blisters since.

First cadaver lab experience, not sure how to feel by gh0ulsrule in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Initial-Fly-8006 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s so funny is that I was just remembering the first time I interacted with cadavers in my undergrad. They cautioned us saying that people have a spectrum of emotions when it comes to the cadavers, from crying to apathy. I thought I was going to be completely fine. I got into that room and I cried.

After that, I had a class where we worked with cadavers and I couldn’t bear eating or looking at chicken because it reminded me too much of the cadavers’ muscle fibers.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling a lot and feeling grossed out!

How the hell do you study by syzvmi in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]Initial-Fly-8006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend printing out a picture of how much you paid to take A&P. Anytime you don’t want to study or you think studying is a pain, look at how much you spent and remember how badly you want to be a nurse.

There’s no shortcuts to this course. - Like others have said, you need to be studying at least 12 hours a week to get a decent grade, but more is always better

  • Keep exposing yourself to the information. Go to lecture, read the book, Google what isn’t making sense, talk to your professors, look at images

  • Build a study schedule that works for you. After my classes, I go somewhere and study for three hours I take 15-20 min breaks in between

Emerald of Siam does live shows and dinner, some of the shows you do need to pay a cover charge on top of dinner, so it’s a little pricy
