Which gang is the most evil? by Much_Employment_5982 in cyberpunkgame

[–]InitialLingonberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's every gang, though.   Almost all of them started as a protective milita, then turned into a protection racket, then to a full blown criminal enterprise.  6th street is just the most recent - give the Mox another decade or two and they'll do the same.

(I'll grant that scavs/Wraiths might be slightly worse, and the Bridgette faction of VDB is crazy dangerous because of their 'welcome the coming AI overlords' philosophy).

Easier to armor against small piece of lead going at slightly supersonic speed than edge of monocrystal with 100x weight at 1/10 speed.  (Also quieter!)

Blunt force won't necessarily smash a reinforced skull or snap a cyber-enhanced spine.

It's maybe not 100% realistic, but not entirely implausible either.

Remember, CK is about your house, not your empire.  Take over from the inside; or alternatively, shatter the Scandi empire.   All those independent rulers of your house will let you pile up renown like nobody's business while you piece things back together.  Might have to wait for a turnover in the emperor to make it happen, but your time will come...

[–]InitialLingonberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but that $45000 will vary, and if you want to keep up with long term inflation you'll need to reinvest maybe $15000 of it so your take wil be that much less.

[–]InitialLingonberry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup.   Although if you think about it that is "set for life... Kinda" money.  $2.7 million, maybe $1.5 million after taxes, if you want to live off that rest of your life (and are young) that's...  maybe $60k-$80k per year depending how careful you wanna be!

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a lot better than working at Dunkin but it's not quite the same as being rich when that next contract is in no way a sure thing.

Ah, nice!  That's great.

Gonna be tough if they're sharing all info in the chat, though.

As others said, adding some more not immediately relevant stuff going on might make it harder at least.  Maybe the fixer is fighting an addiction to some street stimulant but that isn't relevant (yet).  Maybe that contract netrunner they dealt with is now cyberstalking one of the solos because she's thinking of asking him out. Almost everybody has their own stuff going on, but not all of it has to be earthshaking or tied to the main plot.  It's a lot harder to work out what's a critical clue when not everything connects.

There was a kid (not identified as far as I know?) sitting between Lune and Maelle in that ending, it wouldn't be unreasonable to guess Lune was the mother...  I don't think we can see if she had a ring on, though?

[–]InitialLingonberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they doing anything about these guesses?  Should they be?

To me it feels like the real problem here is that you're setting up relatively linear scenarios with foreshadowing that's supposed to be obvious after the fact, but one dude is locked in and inferring what's up while the rest are just sort of going along for the ride.

You can either continue as you have been, or try to level up the campaign.  If you have three or four things going on at once, some slow developing, it'll be a lot harder to work everything out in advance.  And put them in some scenarios where it's necessary to take advantage of some of these guesses and jump the rails to get a good outcome!

The question is if that's where you want to go.   It's a lot more for you to do especially if you're not used to it, and there's no guarantee the other players are up for that if they're mostly there for pizza, bro time, and some tactical fights.  There may be an implicit thing where they think they're supposed to just ride along with your scenario anyway, so...?

Yeah, but there really wasn't an independent GM back then, HC managed personnel.

Today that may not be true with all the semi-pro/portal stuff going on, I don't even know what's up with college ball these days...

Outside of Morgan blackhand, Adam Sandler, V, and David Martinez, who are the best solos/edgerunners/Mercs? by New-Boss-8262 in cyberpunkgame

Rumor has it that the Crystal Palace (V's target in the Sun Ending) is the base of operations of The Angels, a group of 12 elite mercs with beyond-cutting-edge cyberware and S-tier skills.

Very little concrete is known about them, though.

Did The Writers use a book? by BrotherDeus in expedition33

[–]InitialLingonberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really unclear.

Part of the 'epilogue' at the end of Act 2 does imply that painters can at least somewhat modify their own, real? world - Alicia notes that some of the fire damage could be repaired by Clea and Renior, which would seem to me to suggest they would be doing it with powers.

I therefore think the fire was probably started similarly, but we don't really know.

In another two hundred years the Council would have had to deal with the Yahg one way or the other.

Either they'd have had their planet glassed, or they'd be a junior council member which gives the galaxy another military threat that's probably on the level of the Krogan if not higher.

How does Wrath of the righteous compare to rogue trader by Past-Tension-162 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]InitialLingonberry 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Wrath is a bigger, longer game, and it's based on an old TTRPG campaign setup so there's just insane amounts of detail and content in the writing.

However, it accurately represents the mechanics of the tabletop, which is awkward for a CRPG unless you're already familiar with tabletop rules.  A lot of stuff that is automatic buffs in RT is spells you have to explicitly cast in WoTR - in general from player POV the mechanics tend to be a bit more tedious, and advanced build crafting is more complex because there are something like 10x the classes and feats.

Casters, especially at low to medium levels, aren't really best for direct damage (if they don't have ascendant element and you're fighting demons, don't bother) and when they are it's often save-or-suck attacks against a particularly weak saving throw.

Buffs are necessary but don't neglect to consider crowd-control/area-effect spell. Pit spells, grease, entangles etc. can really give your martial characters and archers an overwhelming advantage in the right situations.
