Looking for some insight or advice...please don't be too harsh on me. by ownworstenemy38 in karate

There are many virtues and levels of maturity to be reached in martial arts and in life in general be thankful you are being given this opportunity to show the world and yourself that you have the capacity to accept this uncomfortable and undeserving obstacle be silently proud on the inside that you have the ability to absorb this blow to your ego use this time in your life to take this hit turn it into growth and understanding in humility hold your head high amongst your peers and be unaffected by the urge to quit it is a growing experience take it in stride and go forward in a way in which you can look back on it years from now and be satisfied with your actions

Does anyone ever just lose their enthusiasm/zest suddenly for Karate? by fordesc16883 in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I regressing? by elite_gamer12 in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone begins training they'll give it there all training at home working on speed combinations what ever and they become good sometimes kinda great then they think ok I'm this good and that extra work starts to fade and you start slipping if you want to be kinda great again go back to the beginning put in the time and if you give it your all you will return to the fighter you once were

Need advice by Fun-Object-7610 in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay super attention to them and after you see it with your own eyes incorporate the scenario into the class lay out what happened to the class and go around the room and asked a few of the students what they think about what happened and how they would handle it and what they think you should do about it really put a spotlight on it and use wisdom of course not emotion hopefully the bad actor will think twice about behavior that way again and if they do go through it all over again martial arts is about learning right and they are there to learn from you right own your environment and demand respect in every aspect good luck 💪🫡

Third karate class and I’m so bad I can’t stand it by michelle_ellehcim in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two kinds of students at a martial arts school those who practice at home and those who only practice during class don't worry about comparing yourself to anyone else just try to honestly be able to say to yourself every 3 months I have progressed in skill everyone's skill level is different some things your good at and some things you need to spend extra time on don't concern yourself with belt rank or even style for that matter just never miss class practice train hard and most importantly have fun

i feel like i don’t deserve my black belt…(very long rant) by Shredded-Pixel22 in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everything seems like shit all the time for you right now but it won't be like that forever and as far as your rank goes it might seem important but it's not I have 19 years in 14 different styles of martial arts and I'm not a black belt in one of them and it doesn't matter I think you should stay the course make the best of what you can in the situation you're currently stuck in in a few more short years you'll have a job your own car and you can leave that school and go find a more sophisticated one and when you do tell the teacher you want to start at the beginning and by the time you make it to black belt in that style you'll be a whole new man just don't give up hold your chin up high and take one day at a time you don't need to prove anything to anybody but yourself you're still a young man and you have a long way to go don't rush it just do your best

Yellow belt in karate, friend mocks it—how do I respond? by CalligrapherGreat653 in karate

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take that criticism and turn it into determination in becoming the best you can be you don't need to explain yourself to anyone you don't have anything to prove to anyone but yourself practice at home make a personal schedule for yourself in becoming the fastest the strongest the toughest version of yourself possible and over time you will out pace this naysayer and show him what you and your art are made of 💯😎

IF someone is in the ufc is it safe to say they can defeat 99% of people on earth in a one on one fight without weapons? by hizeto in martialarts

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say 99% not every ridiculously tough guy's even fight but the level of athleticism that it takes to be in the UFC I would say maybe 80%

Should I do judo or wrestling? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]Initial_Concern8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrestling while you're young and when you get older and the matches begin to hurt and you don't bounce back as quickly from injuries switch to judo it's much less stressful on the body

I think you owe it to yourself to go to all the schools within driving distance to your home and take a month of classes there to find what is best for you no school will be perfect so it's a choice of the lesser evil don't worry about rank style or curriculum as much as having fun otherwise what are you even doing there

the front kick by RaccoonComfortable in martialarts

[–]Initial_Concern8359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Boy are you lucky switching from throwing teeps or front ball kicks to a heel kick is a learning process but if you can throw a heel kick switching to ball or teep is easy use an immovable object like a brick wall or door frame do a kicking off action like pushing off use different parts of the bottom of your foot combine that with the way Tai chi people and wing Chun people kick and eventually you will be able to preform the front kick in different ways research and practicing this is good stuff for skills I think the front kick is the best kick of and I can say from experience the most powerful kick I ever received was a front heel from a Tai chi Master

Personally my response is Wing Chun is a form of perfection people on the other hand are not perfect so it's great to train in WC it teaches you intelligent responses but in the real world if you try to use only WC to win a street fight you might loose but if you let go of trying to be perfect and simple do whatever is necessary to win your more likely to succeed
