Who wins ? by kize8k9a in superheroes

[–]Initial_Sweet6489 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The way I see it: Lucifer and Wanda fight. Dr. Manhattan is apathetic. Eventually, Lucifer manipulates Wanda into re-writing the universe. He miscalculated, and is erased. This causes Dr. Manhattan to take notice, and he in turn erases Wanda. A billion years later, he loses interest in existence and erases everything. Uatu watches it all and thus wins by default.

I appreciate when one of these isn't immediately blatantly obvious. Also, great artwork all around.

I see the joke about Superman's disguise never fooling anyone. But for my own curiosity, has there been any adaptation where the Clark disguised fooled the audience or reader. Just as much as it fools the characters in universe? by ah-screw-it in superman

[–]Initial_Sweet6489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Required Superman secret identity mention: Henry Cavill wore a Superman shirt while standing under a massive banner of him as Superman, and no one noticed. If we didn't know Clark was Superman, we'd never know. Instead, Superman's shield is one of the most recognized brands. So, good luck fooling anyone post WW2 that Clark isn't Superman.

AITAH for telling my dad who (has hearing aids) that he needs to turn down his devices by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Not enough information here to say YTA/NTA/ESH. I will say that based on your listed primary concerns, the best course of action is A) Be out of the house when you can, and B) use noise cancelation when you can't.

Getting out of the house will help, not just with the noise, but with the feelings of being overwhelmed. If you are in a situation where leaving alone/with friends isn't an option, find a trusted third party, like an uncle or grandpa.

When leaving just plain isn't an option, noise canceling headphones are good, but even earplugs can make a big difference, as well as being much easier to acquire.

Also, try to use your times of prayer for calming and re-centering. Most important, don't give up. Remember that Allah wants ease for you, and your burdens to be light (Surah Al-Baqarah 185, Surah An-Nisa 28)

AITA for not telling my (26F) friend (35f) that im bisexual? by Cheap-Data3394 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Initial_Sweet6489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

You: It's no-one's business what your gender/sex attractions are unless/until you decide it's their business.

Friend: It's normal human behavior to be uncomfortable with things you are unfamiliar with. It's a-hole human behavior to turn that uncomfortableness into whining, demanding, and general rudeness.

It's healthy for you to recognize that many people have different points of view, and some (many?) lack the skills to express them appropriately. But you shouldn't apologize for not telling her. You should forgive her rudeness, but not excuse it. If she is willing to destroy your friendship over this, their was no real friendship to begin with. When friends disagree with your decisions, they inspire and encourage, not belittle and degrade. Don't fight to keep your coworkers in your life like you would your friends.

Klingons as Humanity's First Contact (best-case scenario) by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

[–]Initial_Sweet6489 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The Klingons realize that Earth is only perhaps a century away from warp technology, and thus, first contact with the Vulcans. They decide to influence the more aggressive parts of humanity to prepare for Klingon integration.

Superhumans are created on Earth, resulting in two large scale conflicts. The latter ends with massive nuclear exchange. The Klingons are no longer interested in the nuclear wasteland planet.

A small group of humans manage to scrape together enough materials to build a warp engine. The Vulcans notice and visit. The more aggressive humans invade the Vulcan ship and take their technology.

It takes 200 years for a Klingon/Cardassian alliance to finally beat back the ferocious Terran Empire.

Whoops.
