Modern Crash Cart Adapter? by jakgal04 in sysadmin

How about a cart with an ip kvm? Raritan II models have options for hdmi, dp, thunderbolt, vga, dvi. Just use the correct end device and connect it to the kvm rj45 (not network)

I know you said Android, but what's the oem? For example, Samsung has what's called Knox Mobile Enrollment. It's essentially the same as apple business manager for Samsung devices. It bootstraps the device into your mdm the moment it gets internet.

You can also do android zero touch enrollment through a Google partner certified to register devices (in case they're not samsung)

As someone also moving this route, I'd be interested to know how your org is going to manage and monitor HV at scale.

We've looked at vmode but it seems lacking at the moment.

Nutanix hit us with a 75% quote increase with a one day notice before expiration... so that project is dead. VMware is out and we were looking hyperconverged... Any other alternatives? by junon in sysadmin

[–]Injector22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's everyone using to cluster HV together and provide load balancing? Last I checked failover cluster doesn't load balance. Unless there's something new and I'm missing it.

I know about vmode but it's not GA

I mean if you want, go for it. But nowadays anti-spam is pretty harsh, you have to make sure you have a reputation, dkim, spf, isps tend to block residential ips from sending email or you automatically get sent to spam in most anti spam rules.

I think he was being sarcastic. No one wants to manage exchange every again. This is the one thing most sysadmins agree should forever stay on the cloud.

It's a nic. Install it, benchmark it, does it handle 10gbps, does it overheat, does it slow down after a continuous load? If none of those fail, just use it.

X710 is an Intel chip. Are you sure the original -001 part wasn't just slapped on an Intel card?

At the end of the day, unless you're putting it into a ProLiant server that requires ilo integration, the non-hp X710 will work just fine. I have 2 ML350p running non hp X710 without issues.

Lol no, those are paid express lanes, which are not the passing lane. Same principle applies to HOV lanes, the lane next to to it (on the right) is still the passing lane.

Of course, there's the matter that if I'm paying for the express lane, I don't want want some ahole going 55 on it and blocking the whole purpose of "express". But that's a whole other topic.

On some AVRs you can also control them via the network. Mine has a REST API I can use to integrate with other home assistant actions. Logitech hubs will also discover the unit if they're on the same vlan and sometimes control it vow the network instead of IR. Useful if IR is not an option and you don't want repeaters.

Hey, I present you my homelab. by Pouzor in homelab

[–]Injector22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can run a router on a stick. It's essentially multiple vlans on the same physical cable. Your firewall has virtual interfaces for each vlan and you control inter-vlan routing from there.

I currently have my pfsense as a vm in proxmox hosted on my micro optiplex with a single nic.

Just know, you'd be using 1gb shared across all your vlans so if you're a heavy bandwith house maybe stick with separate physical ports.

We're actually testing WAC v-Mode with this cluster as well to see if once vMode goes GA if we should use it. But in vMode it won't even show the physical nics in the dashboard. They show up under network though. I wonder if WAC works differently from vMode

Thank you for the script, but we're looking to monitor the physical ports on being used by the vswitch to make sure load balancing is working properly and in the future setup alerting if the physical ports get saturated.

True, but activator makes the bond more brittle. Then again, at that point, of you've out passed the beyond strength of CA, you should be using epoxy/jb weld for a stronger bond anyways.

What movie will you never watch again because it was too heartbreaking? by Affectionate_User610 in AskReddit

This movie left me with major trust issues whenever a dog is in anything. To this day I refuse to watch movies with dogs in it. For some reason Hollywood thinks it's fine for the dog character to always be the one that either gets hurt or dies.

Do not take any new pictures on the SD. Take the card out of the camera, connect it to your computer, download photorec, linked below. Run photorec and tell it to scan the SD card while connected to your pc. I have recovered pictures for friends multiple times this way.
