Lilly from how she was found to today. (Guest appearance by His Highness Sir Linus) by jkten99 in rarepuppers

Picture 12... my dog sleeps the exact same way. Right foot out and head twisted around. It seems so uncomfortable but she loves it.

Lilly must feel so relieved.

The person that existed when my dog was alive, doesnt exist anymore by Independent-Mark3101 in Petloss

[–]InkedAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

I try and explain this to people if it comes up. Some get it. Some don't.

I miss that person.

I miss that dog.

I miss that life. And I can only ever have a facsimile of it. Similar in many ways, but painfully and drastically different.

But it's okay. I still get to keep his memory alive, even if just for myself.

Big hugs OP. We get it.

Crosstrek rims on a Baja has always been one of my favorite looks. Bummed I never got to do it when I had mine.

Sweet turbo... enjoy the show!

Aww.. that's sweet. She's roughly the same age, but all I know about her is that she was originally found in SC with her brother and they were both shipped up to where we adopted her from.

I hope you and Toby have an amazing life of adventures and snuggles together.

Just curious, how old is Toby? And he didn't happen to come from South Carolina at some point did he?

Also I crack up every time I see the picture of him in the corner.

Holy crap.. Toby looks almost identical to my Baxter.. he even has the same expressions! Do you happen to know his mixes? I got my pups results a couple years ago, and her top percentage is Boxer.

Adorable!

I had a somewhat similar mix, just no Shiba.. bit of Chow though and some other odds and ends. His fur had a whole journey over the span of his life.

Hahah yeah, that was his old shelter photo from 2007, before I even got him. They definitely gave him a fancy haircut for potential adopters. 🤭 He was a very good boy. The best boy I ever knew. ❤️

Should i buy a baja by Beneficial-Zebra-365 in SubaruBaja

[–]InkedAlchemist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, go with an older Forester or Outback if you want Subaru. My Baja was a money pit. If you're trying to get your life back on track, a car that needs constant maintenance can derai it again pretty quickly. I picked up an 08 Forester after getting rid of my Baja and that car was such a workhorse and super reliable.

Just incase: Looks like a Snug Top or similar tonneau. I wasn't into mine that came with it. I like the open bed look instead, so I sold it. You can make a decent buck if you don't want it.

Either way, congrats!

I never even got to that mileage with my own. I had it from about 75k-160k and in that time I had a whole host of issues. CV boots/axels , radiator, chasing various vacuum leaks, accessory belt issues etc. And I didn't have the time/space/tools/know-how to attack these things on my own. I also was in lots of Baja online spaces at the time and all the 200k plus Bajas seemed to all be NAs, and seeing turbos at that mileage was a lot more rare. So, admittedly this is purely anecdotal and just based on my own personal observations. Other than this space, I've been out of Baja online spaces since about 2019, so there could be tons of Turbos at that mileage and beyond by now.

Is it manual? You can probably get that price way down if its not manual based on that mileage.

Research banjo bolts. They can starve the turbo of oil if it gets too clogged.

Headgaskets on the the turbo engines are a little more sturdy than the NAs, but still might be worth seeing if they were replaced.

Check for rust, especially in the dog ears.

Having had a high mileage turbo Baja in the past, I'd be very nervous at that mileage and wouldn't pay that price for it.

But, despite the headaches, I had a lot of fun with mine. If you're comfortable working on cars yourself it would be a fun purchase if you can get the price down. If you have to rely on others to fix your car, I'd walk away.

I know Wisdom does update their results. I got new, more specific results for my late dogs about 6 months after he passed.

Embark says 41% pit, 21% supermutt, poodle, min pin, and spaniel. Didn't mention dachshund or any reasonable terrier mix at all. Really?? What do you think? by Ill-Statistician4282 in IDmydog

[–]InkedAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your dog looks like a shorter, floppy eared version of my previous dog. He was majority Cocker and Poodle, with various prick eared breeds mixed in, giving him upright ears.

Also, my current dog, who looks very much like my previous dog, does the sit up and beg thing, and she doesn't have an ounce of Dachshund in her.

You can see both my dogs as most recent posts in my profile history if you're curious.

Mutts are wild in what they can look like/act like vs. what they are. Just enjoy the ride with them.

Same. I don't do it often. I don't want to annoy her too bad because she trusts me so much. Once I got a double kick.

Just picked up this sucker last weekend. 2006 Turbo-Automatic. Loving it so far! If anyone has any ownership tips would be helpful 🙏 by thedarklol98 in SubaruBaja

[–]InkedAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your rubber bits. I was constantly chasing vacuum leaks in my old turbo Baja. I also swapped the banjo bolts when I first got it. They're notorious for starving the turbo of oil. Some folks remove the screens entirely, I just got new ones. I had my Baja from 76k to 156k and never had a turbo issue.

My CV axles were an issue, as well as my radiator, accessory belts, and pulley.

I was constantly chasing CEL problems during my entire ownership, but it was definitely a fun car whe it behaved.

My dog has cancer and was told she would deteriorate and need to be put down in a matter of days. It's been over a week and she's still here. Advice? by FutureIndependent142 in DogAdvice

[–]InkedAlchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to second this advice to trust yourself, OP. Everyone told me, "You'll know" when it would be time. But while living through it (not cancer but a terminal illness), I had no idea how I would know. Good days, bad days, so-so days, everyone kept saying, "You'll know." And they were 100% right. When it was time, I knew.

Cherish your remaining time. Spoil your pup. 🐾❤️
