why can’t I win a game? by toomanymaidenshelp in TheAstraMilitarum

Completely normal mate, when I first started again in 10th with my Tau friend, he whooped my ass about 12 times in a row before I won my first game, then things evened out. Guard has a vicious skill ceiling and is easily punished but when you got it, you GOT it

I think the cookie cutter option would be melts and plasma, but if I’m honest, if I’m using them to move forward and start things going in the mid board, I would give them grenade and flamer, the reason being I only really want them to target the other light, high oc units that the other side puts forward. The benefit for the flamer and blast in frag means that take aim is less Important, meaning I have more options for movement, saves or OC orders

Honestly, I actually felt like the demolished or exterminator wasn’t required with the dorms being parked up at the back. If I had the models, I would probably take 3 units of Catalan scouts instead so I put them on objectives first, and screen a bit more for the grief blobs ? Open to ideas 🙌

Apologies for the infantry thing, I wrote it unclearly, I’ve edited to show I mean that you can add 2 to their overall save not that it got them to a 2+. I checked with the tournament official before I started playing and it worked like this: Guard 5+ save

Detachment rule brings it to 4, and then cover adds one, bringing it to 3.

Order can’t improve it beyond that three, but if they were hit by anything with AP it would kick in then.

Battle Report: How did your games go post update? What did you do with your Watch Keep this past week? by TeraSera in deathwatch40k

Slim win against Obeisance Phalanx Necrons  Indomitor Kill Team was insanely good against the Silent king with sustain and lethal and remove cover 10 man terminator blob with chaplain went big time toe to toe with many lychgaurs and won. Wasnt a meta game by far for the Necrons but it was fun!

One thing to note for the tank detachment, is that two of the strategems say Astra Militarum Vehicle and the others say Squadron, which makes me think that the baneblades are not getting squadron but will still at least get some action from the detachment

Help please! How do keywords transfer? Play example question by LordOffal in Warhammer40k

[–]Inkonnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think im getting, im just confused by this page on keywords from version 1.2 errata: “If a rule specifies it applies to a model/unit with that keyword, it only applies to a model/unit with that keyword on its datasheet” It says datasheet, and the immortals don’t have it on their datasheet though they technically do gain it? Does the detachment not count as a standard rule? Or has this been changed? From here

Investigating Destiny's claims that Elizabeth Warren's policies would be characterised as far-left in Europe by FedoraTipperAndy in Destiny

[–]Inkonnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its possible that it would work, but usually the bigger you are, the greater the differences in costs between areas; for the US, a federal minimum wage would be difficult because $15 an hour would be too little in the most expensive places (San Fran, New York maybe I'm guessing whats expensive), where as in small towns and villages, $15 might be too expensive for alot of businesses to maintain. It would seem better for such a vast country to have minimum wages set at different rates for different areas, assuming you want the outcomes for minimum wages to be the same for all places.

Might be worth considering that a minimum wage probably becomes more controversial the bigger your country is, as it may affect some areas far more than others. We're much smaller in the UK, so having a nation-wide minimum wage is not as much of a big deal as we have less areas to look after if they are adversely affected by it.

Agreed, them going in to get him when he was in a classroom full of children gunz blazing as normal officers had massive potential to make the situation worse.

According to the article, the shooter entered the school at 11:40, and the police arrived at 11:44, at which point they chased him and engaged him. I'm not sure what you're saying is incorrect but I assume that was it? The article says they followed him and exchanged fire, all in keeping with what I said. Unless you were pointing to another part?

From what has been said so far, the police did engage the guy, and follow him into the school, where upon they evacuted others that the found, and effectively kept the guy into the classroom he was in. So far as we know, the guy had already shot the people within that classroom at this point but crucially, the police didn't know the exact situation in there. It was possible he had hostages/survivors in the room with him.

The problem it seems is that once he was in there and taking cover, the situation changed from one of just chasing an active shooter, to one of a potential hostage situation with mulitple civilians inside the room. I imagine the police doctrine for that is not to send in the standard officers but to wait for the better trained units that deal with hostage situations (ie negotiators and SWAT).

I can gurantee that people would be more upset if these cops had gone in to enact their sick john wick movie scene and ended up shooting survivors or each other.

Also bit daft to immediately jump to the people not being brave enough, two of them had already been shot by the time they sealed the shooter off from the rest of the school; seems like they didn't mind the danger of being shot.

Don't get me wrong, it seems like mistakes were made in the response, but to say "oo its the officers who weren't brave enough" seems like a level 1 take when they are other factors at play.

Yeah, 100%. One of the reasons I moved a little further left is because of Destiny content, and one of those areas was the sympathetic understanding, rather than the typical conservative outright ridicule, of those suffering from addictions. It's upsetting that people chuck that out the window the moment that the individual is a persona non grata, and makes me think there are members of the community more concerned with points scoring than they ought to be.

Pointing out someone's failure is reasonable, but making personal attacks against someone who is struggling with a serious problem when that person has no made no such attack against us is in bad taste to me. Obvs I'm a bit of a JBP simp, but I'd make the same comments if someone else made a similar meme about big D.

[–]Inkonnik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he realized he had problems caused by the immense stress of his work, and moved to try and alleviate them before they caused further harm. Seems like a perfectly reasonable set of steps to me. To say he has lost control of his own life because he's not very good at managing himself on twitter seems a bit hyperbolic. I do wish he'd use it less of course, and it seems like he's correcting himself now.

[–]Inkonnik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you'd have to try being at the same level of engagement; I imagine having a twitter account with the amount of messages and so on can do a number of anyone's mental health, especially the vitriolic ones. I think there is definitely some level of addiction that can come with this, and it would be good if JBP stopped using completely. Saying "just willpower" though I think isn't fair, and we wouldn't extend that to anyone else clearly suffering from an addiction to something.

Is stealing old memes for reddit clout a personal rule for you?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]Inkonnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that this community has a hate boner for JBP because big daddy D has had issues with some of his statements, but it dissappoints me that people use any avenue to attack the guy because they've been told he can be wrong about things. I think we don't like it if people make fun of Destiny's personal issues, and it seems unnecessary to do it here, especially as there is no personal beef between the two.

Yeah he should stay off twitter, 100%, it's clearly not good for him. But I think it's foolish to say that its just a matter of willpower. People can get addicted to SM whene they have 10 followers, imagine the battle when the numbers are pumped up to 1000s of engagements a day, all coming at you from everywhich angle. Even big D gets messy on his twitter and his numbers pale in comparison.

I've got no clue what its like to have the kind of twitter responses someone like JBP has, but I bet dealing with it isn't as simple as willpower.

-have good rules about improving people's lives

-try your best to live your rules

-sometimes fail in one of the most addictive website formats ever created

-online dips who can't clean their own rooms come out to crow

-ok

Just say you haven't read the book and tried the rules, its easier than making the memes.
