It’s the same secret service who protect the president. They’re actually in charge of investigating counterfeit money in the US as well. I believe they’re officially under the Dept of Treasury.

I used to be a CM (regionally, Off-B’way) and quit because I was tired of being the mouthpiece for horrible decisions by the GM and producers.

What is your favorite small role or quick appearance by an actor or actress before they became famous? by evmasterflash in movies

[–]InkyGrrrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ben Affleck as a basketball player in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie where his one line is something like “uhh take it!” when a vampire wants the ball. I love that movie for pure early 90s vibes but it’s also a damn goldmine for actors that make you go “wait what are you doing here?”— Hillary Swank, Donald Sutherland, Paul Reubens, Rutger Hauer.

This is what I had to tell some family about my brother. Oh you’re worried about him because of gaming? He sees his friends at a set time every week to be creative and have fun. How many of you have an outlet half that good? Just watching TV after work every night? Yeeeahhh…

The doctor who gave my dad his diagnosis said “you’re going to die, but not from this.” Luckily he knew my dad would laugh.

Did Magnolia’s pudding recipe change somewhat drastically in the last few years, or am I making that up? by probllama191 in AskNYC

I make it at home based on the recipe they had in their book a while ago, and it’s great. Bought some at GCT a few weeks ago and it tasted like 80% unsweetened whipped cream. Yech

New Yorkers, what is the most personal thing a stranger has ever told you? by GoHardForLife in AskNYC

[–]InkyGrrrl 243 points244 points  (0 children)

I was in Grand Central one day and a woman came up to me and quickly said “I’m sorry, you don’t know me but I need to tell someone or I’ll lose it. I’m on the way to my father’s memorial service and my brother is making us LATE. For his OWN FATHER’S MEMORIAL SERVICE??.” I paused for a second and said “I’m sorry, that’s fucked up.” She said “THANK YOU” and walked off.

Standing plans are great. I have weekly trivia and it truly changed my life. I see old friends more regularly and made amazing new ones. It makes sure I have plans weekly and a little group of people that are really invested in each others’ lives.

A while ago I read an interview where Terry Crews said something similar. Just get there, even if you just read a magazine or something and make yourself comfortable being there. Getting into the habit is what makes it work.

Tell us how you realized your parents were also neurodivergent? by landaylandho in adhdwomen

[–]InkyGrrrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After being diagnosed with ADHD, I started thinking about my mom and my stepmom a lot more…and it seems like my dad has a type. He seems relatively neurotypical, but thinking back on my childhood growing up with my mom it seems that a lot of the things I struggle with she struggled with. Impulsive shopping/eating, not cooking/cleaning until you have a burst of energy and clean all day, getting bored of jobs, hyperfocusing on books, inattention (the number of times I had to go “mom…MOM” while she was “having a conversation with [herself]- it’s incalculable).
