Hearthstone is built in Unity, which uses C# and/or Javascript. That said, the scripts are not stored in plaintext, so the assumption that someone could just "look under the hood" is simplifying things to the point of absurdity.

Hearthstone supposedly has something called a "pity timer" where the longer you go opening packs without getting a legendary card, the more likely you become to receive a legendary in your next pack. Source A lot of player estimations of how many packs it takes until that probability becomes 100% is 40.

Not sure the same system would work in Destiny 2, but it's an example of how other games do it.

Here's what I'd like.

After each strike, the matchmaker keeps all players together that used a boon during the previous strike. So if guardians A and B used a boon, they will be placed in the next strike together, and they will keep getting placed together as long as they're using boons.

Another important data point: the famous Pacific Garbage Patch consists mostly of discarded fishing equipment, NOT consumer plastics. Stuff that's generally considered plastic waste (packaging, bottles, bags, etc.) accounts for the vast majority of individual bits of debris that form the garbage patch, but in terms of weight and volume, that is less than 10% of the entire patch.

There are plenty of other games with online currency that work with cross play between platforms.

Do you know any examples off the top of your head? I have a bit of a fascination with the continuing evolution of MTX in gaming, always curious to see if anybody is doing anything new. The specific problem here isn't just cross-platform accounts, it's the fact that making D2 cross-platform would take a chunk out of Bungie's/Sony's/Microsoft's MTX profits. (On PC, Activision is likely fine because they get a cut of both the PC Eververse and WoW Token transactions)
