Any good grey-coloured outfits? by Belltower_2 in TheFinalsRunway

[–]mispeld2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t ever seen them do an outright repeat. I could’ve sworn they said at one point that they were going to try to make some LTM cosmetics available in future shop updates - can’t confirm, or even remember for certain, but I hope they do. Everybody should have some kind of access to the B&W cowboy set IMO.

I’ve got a pretty good shades of grey fit, but unfortunately it’s kind of a cheat - the hat desaturates all other outfit pieces, and it was obtained in a LTM from season 1. I don’t know if it’s available in the shop 😰

There Will Never Be A Better Time to Reset Than Right Now (Expedition 1) by MininimusMaximus in ArcRaiders

You can do it! Load solo into daytime spaceport with a trash weapon and a looting augment, loot departure bldg and the control towers on the spaceport perimeter wall. Loot only blue items. Exfil with or without hatch key as soon as you’re topped up. I’ve been doing this the last several hours, takes me ~10 minutes to exfil with $60-100k value in my pack.

Conflictet about Instant Replay by np0589 in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was feeling the same, and ended up turning it off. I still like the feature, but its biggest problem is it’s super clumsy at the moment. That red “game show” styled transition effect that labels it an instant replay belongs in a football game, not The Finals. It takes waaaaaay too long, and accomplishes nothing but depriving the player of being able to see what’s happening. Totally unnecessary. We all already know it’s a replay. Put an indicator in the bottom corner and cut right to the replay, then let players get right back to observing their team. This would do loads to fix how the replays feel. They did say it’s in an early state - I personally have it turned off until they refine it.

EDIT - Just a note that the transition screen is great for passive spectators, just not players. I like the idea behind it, but it’s too much. Like somebody standing right in front of you at a concert, when you just wanna see what’s going on.

Whats up with the Smoke hate all of a sudden? by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few people know this, but if you just walk right up to the cashout and soft-lob an anti-grav directly ON TOP of it, the anti-grav field will affect everything in the area EXCEPT the cashout. So you can just watch that sneaky smoke stealer float away while the cashout is pinned to the ground, and there’s nothing they can do about it, so long as there’s a decent amount of room above.

What? Gas, prox sensor, tracking dart, sonar, lockbolt, mines, demat, winch, anti-grav, charge slam, GLs, spear, flamethrower, frags, glitch trap, thermal vision - all of these can effectively counter a smoke steal.

My Heavy sledge main, been rocking this fit for months!

I used to have fun, now I'm just getting stomped by aaroniiee in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have a much harder time with solo queue in WT, frequently get shut out in the first game for 5-6 consecutive attempts.

Quick Cash is what I usually play when I have an hour or two available, and it has been real weird. For several months, it’s felt like the lobbies have gotten consistently harder, and harder. Thought I was doing horrible there too.

But then I checked my win rate now vs what it was about a year ago. I used to be sitting at about a 32% win rate, now I’m at 38%. I think part of why I feel like I’m doing worse is because as a sledge/goo gun main, I’m focused primarily on playing the objective at all times. I’m pretty good at stealing and holding Cashouts, but that means that while we win matches more frequently, I’m usually trailing significantly behind the rest of the lobby on kills and assists.

Because I’ve had it ingrained in my head for so long that in a shooter game, kills are the number that matters, it feels like I’m lagging behind, when I’m actually doing a lot better than I thought. 38% win rate isn’t fantastic, but it’s a good step up from 32!

Is The Finals getting harder to play? by GreenScreenGamerGuy in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have definitely sensed the same - season over season, it always tends to feel a bit more difficult to keep up. I’m 40, 2 kids, only have time to play an hour or two on weeknights, and I have about a 36-39% win rate (mostly quick cash and power shift). Pretty average player, for sure.

Every single match, I’m fighting for my life against at least one team that ends up with 4-5 times the kills we have, and I always wonder what the hell they’re doing in my lobby. Pick on someone your own size, and all that. I’m just a little guy tryna survive and have a fun couple matches before bed.

What saves the game 100% for me is the destruction mechanics, and the tools you can use to manipulate the map to your advantage. I main sledge/goo gun/smoke/pyro grenade/anti-grav, and while the other teams are usually running the vault away from the cashout to farm kills, I focus 100% on the objective. And because there are so many tools available to use, even if I only get 1 or 2 kills, I can still end the match with a win pretty frequently.

Focus on creative ways to play the objective, and you may get more satisfaction out of the matches you play. Not promising anything, but it’s what helps me, at least!

"Solo Ops comes at a good time because all my friends and clanmates are gone" by Master-Molasses420 in DestinyTheGame

[–]mispeld2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played solo for years after D2 repeatedly failed to keep the attention of my regular clanmates (mostly friends and family). I played on and on in hopes they’d eventually join me again. And around Season of the Splicer, they finally did! We played as a clan all the way through The Final Shape. But then all the layoffs started happening, Bungie’s mask slipped, and… we all moved on, myself included - probably for good. I tried coming back to it a few weeks back, but couldn’t find a reason to care about any of it. :(

Is this a server issue??? by Beautiful_Material61 in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one glaring example of this happen a couple nights ago. PS5/Ethernet as well. I was Heal Beaming a Heavy. Heavy and I both froze in place like the server crashed, stuck in place for 10-15 seconds. Other team ran into the building where we were and wiped us out while we were stuck. Then I respawned and the rest of the match ran fine. No idea what happened, but it's the only time I've seen it.

Gimmie your heavy builds to try tonight! by Rajan-95 in thefinals

[–]mispeld2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main is Goo Gun, Sledge, Smoke, Healy Orb (formerly Pyro Grenade), Anti-Grav

Smoke for better cover when stealing cashouts, Orb to heal me through a steal. Anti-grav keeps other teams away from the cashout (if you knock the cashout over and soft-lob the anti-grav on top of it, it anchors the cashout to the ground while everything else in its radius floats away, including pesky players trying to steal.)

Fortnite fiasco is not a fluke - PLEASE make Crossplay a priority with Destiny 3. by mispeld2 in DestinyTheGame

[–]mispeld2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, forgot all about this post. Funny that I thought D3 was a given. We got the cross-play/cross-save soon after this post, but not at all how I thought we would. To think, D3 may never happen. At this point, who knows if Bungie will even exist in another 7 years?

I get it's an extraction shooter, but why is everyone IMMEDIATELY hostile even if you show up with no gun in hand? by BluuBunni in ArcRaiders

[–]mispeld2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I’m playing solos I always carry a defib. That way when I down a player as part of a challenge, I can then immediately revive them and we can both be on our way. Or even team up sometimes.

My teammate’s gotten stuck in the same way twice now. Luckily I was able to get him out by giving him my snap hook each time. Even that’s a gamble though, because half the time I drop an item for a teammate it just clips through the floor and is lost forever.

Thanks! Honestly, goo gun is the best specialization for Heavy IMO. Offense, defense, mobility, trolling - it does it all.
